Notice about chats and friends disappearing toggle
We've confirmed an issue where chats and friends disappear from LINE for iOS when the app or OS is updated.

If you've experienced this issue, we're sorry to say that the only solution available is to delete and reinstall the LINE app, and then transfer your account.

You can restore data other than your chats by reinstalling the LINE app.
Note: If you backed up your chat history to iCloud, you can restore your chats up to the time when the backup was made.

Sharing photos and videos in chat rooms with friends toggle
To share photos or videos with friends or groups:
1. Tap the chat room with the photo/video you want to share.
2. Tap and hold the photo/video you want to share, then tap Forward > Forward.
Note: You can send multiple photos at the same time.
3. Select the friends you want to share with, then tap Share.

You can also share a photo/video that was sent in a chat (or a group of multiple photos that were sent together) by tapping the Share with icon next to it.

To share photos or videos to Timeline or other apps:
1. Tap the chat room with the photo/video you want to share.
2. Tap the photo/video you want to share.
3. Tap the share icon at the bottom of the photo/video.
4. Select how you want to share the photo/video.

Adding photos to albums toggle
To add photos to an album: 
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Albums.
2. At the bottom right of an album, tap "..." > Add photos.
3. Select the photos you want to add, then tap Next > Add.

You can also add photos sent in a chat room to albums. To do so:
1. Tap and hold a photo, then tap Album > Save.
2. Choose the album you want to save the photo in, then tap Add.

Chat history disappeared toggle
Your chat history is saved in the app on your device. For this reason, you cannot carry over or restore your chat history in the following cases.

- If you deleted your chat history
- If you uninstalled then reinstalled your LINE app (including restoring the app from backup)
- If you changed to a new device

Problems sending or receiving messages toggle
If you are having problems sending or receiving messages, please try the following steps.

1. Update your LINE app from the URL below.
http://line.me/update
2. Restart your device.
3. Go back to the list of chats, then open the chat you are having problems with again.

Please note that sometimes it may take a while for a chat message to show up after you receive the notification.

App crashes toggle
If the app crashes when you are in a chat, there may not be enough memory on your device. Please try the troubleshooting tips listed below.

• Close all running apps.
• Restart the LINE app.
• Restart your device.
• Ensure that you have more than 2 GB of free space on your device.
• Clear the LINE app's cache. (See here for information on how to do so.)

I received a chat message saying "Start chatting with your new friend now!" toggle
With LINE, chat rooms are automatically created for recently added friends. "Start chatting with your new friend now!" is always the first message in these chats.

Also, if you or your friend turn the "Allow others to add me" setting ON, your chat room may be recreated and appear at the top of your chat list.

If a chat with a friend you haven't messaged recently appears at the top of your chats, it may be because that friend turned their "Allow others to add me" setting ON.

Rest assured that this message does not mean an account is being impersonated or has been stolen.

Editing and deleting Notes toggle
To edit or delete a post, please follow the steps below.

To edit/delete Notes:  
1. Tap the Note you want to edit or delete.
2. Tap the options icon at the top right of the post.
3. Select either Edit or Delete

Deleting an album toggle
To delete an album: 
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Albums.
2. Tap "..." at the bottom right of the album you want to delete, or select the album and tap the options icon at the top right of the screen.
3. Tap Delete album > Delete.

To delete photos in an album:
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Albums.
2. Tap the album > the options icon at the top right of the screen > Select photos.
3. Select the photos you want to delete, then tap the trash can icon at the bottom left of the screen > Delete.
Note: If you want to select all of the photos, tap Select all.

Please remember that once an album or photo is deleted, it cannot be restored.

Do I need to worry about other people being able to see my chats? toggle

We respect your privacy above all else, and your sent/received messages and other information are treated with the highest level of security. LINE has established strict internal rules to ensure that your messages are protected.

 

Nothing you send or receive can be viewed by LINE or any third parties not participating in a chat.

Problems with images, videos, and audio messages toggle
It may take some times to send, receive, and display images, videos, and audio messages. Images are only stored on our servers for a certain period of time, after which they can no longer be received. We are unable to provide details about how long images are stored.

By tapping the thumbnail received in a chat, you can save the image in your LINE app. To save it in the default gallery app on your device, please tap Save after opening the image.

Images saved in the LINE app will become unavailable if you delete the app's cache using a cache clearing app.

For problems with images, videos, and audio messages, please try the following.

1. Close all running apps.
2. Restart your device.
3. Update your LINE app from the URL below.

5. Delete any unneeded apps and data on your device.

Sending your location via Chat toggle
To send your location via Chat:
1. Tap "+" next to the message input box, then tap Location.
2. Select your location and tap Share location.

If you can't find the location you want to send, you can search for its name or address in the search field on the location selection screen.

Editing photos and videos before you send them toggle
To edit a photo or video before sending it: 
1. Tap the photo icon next to the text box.
2. Tap the photo or video you want to edit.
3. Edit the photo or video any way you like and tap the icon to send it.

You can use the following tools on the editing screen.

Filters (the three-ringed icon)
Choose from a variety of filters to alter the mood of your photos and videos.

Crop (the square icon)
For photos, tap the crop icon to trim them and focus on a certain area.

For videos, tap the scissors icon to trim the part of the video you want to send.

Doodle (the pen icon)
Draw with pens of various colors and thicknesses, add shapes, or apply a blur/mosaic effect to your photos.

Text (the "T" icon)
Add text to photos and videos in the color of your choice.

Stickers
Add emoji, the current date and time, geotags, and stickers to your photos and videos.
Note: You can add creator stickers and official stickers from LINE and BT21.

By tapping Undo (the round arrow) at the top of the screen, you can discard all of the edits you've made.

Sending Live Photos toggle
To send Live Photos in a chat room, follow the steps below.
Note: Available on iPhone 6s/6s Plus and later models, the Live Photos feature lets you take photos that move.

1. Tap the photo icon next to the message input box.
2. Swipe up on the Camera Roll screen.
3. Tap the ORIGINAL icon that appears at the bottom left of the screen.
4. Select the Live Photo you want to send, then tap Send.

Live Photos will appear static on the screens of recipients using non-iOS devices.

Chatting while watching videos/LINE LIVE or making video calls toggle
To chat while watching videos:
1. Tap the YouTube thumbnail or video that was sent in the chat room.
2. Tap the square icon at the upper right of the screen.

To chat while making video calls/Live streams
1. At the top of a chat room screen, tap the call icon > Video call or Live.
2. Tap the square icon at the top of the screen.

To chat while watching LINE LIVE broadcasts:
1. Tap a LINE LIVE link.
2. Tap the square icon at the upper right of the screen.

You can move the shrunken screen wherever you like!
Note: Tap the arrow to enlarge the screen.

Sending content other than text in chat rooms toggle
In addition to text messages, you can send photos, videos, voice messages, your location, and even money (via LINE Pay) in LINE chat rooms.

Sending photos/videos
Follow the steps below to send up to 50 photos/videos at once.

1. Tap the Chats tab > the name of the chat room you want to send photos/videos to.
2. Tap the photo icon next to the text box.
3. Choose the photos/videos you want to send, then tap the paper airplane icon.
Note:
- Swiping up on the thumbnail images will display all of your photos/videos.
- The number of photos/videos you've selected appears at the bottom of the screen. Tapping this number lets you confirm and reorder them.

Sending content other than photos/videos
Follow the steps below to send things like voice messages, your location, and money.

1. Tap the Chats tab.
2. Tap the name of the friend or group you want to send something to.
3. Tap "+" next to the text box.
4. Tap and send the content of your choice.

Taking/editing photos and videos in LINE toggle
With LINE, you can take photos and videos (using filters and effects, if you like) in chat rooms or on Timeline. There are also lots of other convenient features for editing your content.

To take, edit, and send photos, videos, or GIFs: 
1. Tap the Chats tab > the name of the chat room you want to send content in.
2. Tap the camera icon next to the text box.
3. Tap the round shutter button at the bottom center of the screen.
Note: You can switch between taking photos, videos, and GIFs by tapping or swiping on your camera screen.
4. Edit the content any way you like and tap the paper airplane icon.

You can use the following tools on the camera screen.

Flash (the lightning bolt icon)
Turn your camera's flash ON or OFF.

Timer (the stopwatch icon)
Set a photo timer for 3 or 10 seconds after you tap the shutter button.

Aspect ratio
Change the aspect ratio of your photo to 1:1, 3:4, or 9:16.

Effects (the smiley face icon)
Use animated effects to match your expression.

Filters (the three-ringed icon)
Choose from a variety of filters and shades to alter the mood of your photo or video.

Switch cameras (the rotating circle icon)
Switch between your rear-facing camera (for selfies) and forward-facing camera (for shots of the scene in front of you).

Marking all unread messages as read toggle
To mark all the messages in a specific chat as read:
1. Tap the Chats tab.
2. Swipe left on the chat.
3. Tap Read.

To mark all the messages in all your chats as read:
1. Tap the Chats tab.
2. Tap Edit > Read all.
3. Tap OK.

Sending voice messages toggle
The voice message feature lets you record and send audio to friends. You can send voice messages with the following steps.

1. Tap Chats.
2. Tap the name of the friend or group.
3. Tap and hold the microphone icon on the right side of the message input box.
4. Record your message while holding the microphone icon.
5. When you have finished recording, remove your finger from the microphone icon to send your message. 
Note: If asked, please allow voice recording or microphone access permission, or turn your microphone ON from your settings.

Creating a video from several photos and sending it in a chat toggle
You can make videos (slideshows or GIF animations) out of several photos and send them in chat rooms.

What are slideshows/GIFs?
These features let you easily turn your favorite photos into videos. A variety of effects are available to help you make the kind of video you want.
Note:
- With slideshows, you can trim photos or add music, filters, and effects.
- With GIFs, you can change the photo size and playback speed.

To make a slideshow or GIF and send it in a chat room: 
1. Tap the photo icon next to the text box, then swipe up on the photo list to browse.
2. Select two or more photos.
Note: The photos you select will appear at the bottom of the screen in the order they were selected. You can reorder them by tapping and holding them, then dragging them to the spot of your choice.
3. Tap the slideshow or GIF icon.
4. Edit the content any way you like, then tap Send.

Replying to a specific chat message toggle
To reply to a specific chat message:

1. Tap and hold the message you want to reply to.
2. Tap Reply.
NoteReply will only appear for text, stickers, emoji, photos, or videos.
3. Enter a message with text/emoji or choose a sticker to send.

Checking all photos, videos, links, and files shared in a chat toggle
You can check all of the content that has been shared in a chat at once. Just tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen and select Photos & videos, Links, or Files

Photos/videos:
Tapping Select at the top right of the screen lets you choose photos and videos to share or delete. You can also save them to an album, your device, or Keep.

Swiping left or right on the photo or video you're viewing lets you see other photos or videos in the chat. You can also jump to the message in which a photo or video was sent by tapping the date at the top of it.

Links:
Tap a link listed on this tab to go to the relevant website. You can also tap the icon to the right of the link for the options Copy link, Save in Keep, Send to other chats, and Jump to message.

Files:
Tap the icon to the right of a file for the options Save in Keep, Send to other chats, and Jump to message.

Chat History

Backing up chats to iCloud toggle
In order to be able to restore your chat history after changing devices, you need to back it up beforehand.

Before backing up your data, make sure you have:
• LINE version 6.4.0 or later
• iOS 8.1 or later
• iCloud Drive turned ON

Important: Images and stickers sent in chats cannot be backed up or restored. If there are images you don't want to lose, you can save them in an Album or Keep.

To back up your chats:
1. Go to More > Settings > Chats.
2. Tap Chat history backup > Back up now.

Backing up chats as text files toggle
You can save the messages in a chat as a text file by following the steps below. 
Note: You cannot restore your chat history on LINE from a text file backup. 

1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Settings.
2. Tap Export chat history and choose how you want to send the file.

Restoring chats on iOS toggle
To restore your chats, turn iCloud Drive ON before transferring your LINE account. If you've already transferred your account, please reinstall the LINE app.
Note:
- You cannot restore your chats from the LINE app's Settings.
- Images and stickers that were sent in chats cannot be restored.

To restore your chat history:
1. Turn iCloud Drive ON.
2. Transfer your LINE account to a new device.
3. Once the screen to restore your chat history appears, tap Restore chat history.

To change your iCloud Drive settings, please follow the steps below.
Note: Make sure to log in to iCloud with the same Apple ID you used to back up your chat history.
1. From your iOS device, tap Settings > your name at the top of the screen.
2. Tap iCloud > turn iCloud Drive ON.
3. Turn LINE ON.
Note: If different screens appear on your device and you cannot follow these steps, please contact Apple directly.

Searching messages inside a chat room toggle
To search the messages in a chat room:
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Search chat.
2. Enter what you want to search for in the Messages field.

You can also search through messages for a specific date by tapping the calendar icon at the top right of the keyboard.

Backing up and restoring chat histories toggle
If you don’t back up your chat history beforehand, it will be deleted when you transfer your account after changing devices.

As chats are stored on your device, you’ll need to back them up before changing to a different one.
Important: You can only transfer your chats between devices running the same OS.

iOS users
You can use iCloud to back up your chats. For more details on how to back up and restore your chats, please see this Help article.

Android users
You can use Google Drive to back up your chats. For more details on how to back up and restore your chats, please see this Help article.

Deleting your chat history toggle
To delete the history for all your chats:
1. From the Home/Friends or More tab, tap Settings > Chats.
2. Tap Delete data.
3. Check the option for All chat data > tap Delete selected data > Delete data.

To delete a specific room’s chat history:
1. From the Chats tab, select a chat room > tap the menu icon at the top right of the screen > Settings.
2. Tap Delete chat history > Delete.

Important: Deleted messages cannot be restored.

Letter Sealing

What is Letter Sealing? toggle
Letter Sealing is a feature that provides end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for chat room messages. E2EE is a communication system designed so that messages saved on our servers are encrypted and cannot be read by anyone except the sender and receiver of the message.

Once the sender and receiver have both turned on Letter Sealing, they will be able to start sending messages with added security.

The following information will be encrypted:

• Text messages (not including messages sent through other services)
• Location information
• 1-on-1 free voice calls
Note: We plan to expand Letter Sealing’s functionality in the future.

If you use LINE for PC after turning on Letter Sealing, you'll be required to verify your identity the first time you send a message.

How to set Letter Sealing toggle
Letter Sealing will be turned ON for the initial setup.

If you are using the iOS version of LINE and Letter Sealing is turned ON, you will not be able to preview messages.

We recommend keeping Letter Sealing turned ON at all times in order to protect your messages. However, if you would like to change the settings, please refer to the steps below. 

Please be sure to follow the steps on the smartphone version of LINE. If you are accessing this Help article from your smartphone, tap here to move to the settings screen.

1. Tap MoreSettings > Privacy.
2. Turn OFF Letter Sealing.

The screen to verify my identity for Letter Sealing is not appearing toggle
When verifying your identity on the PC version of LINE, if the screen to enter the verification code for Letter Sealing does not appear on the smartphone version of LINE, please try the following:

1. Start the smartphone version of LINE.
2. Go to More > Settings > Privacy.
3. Turn Letter Sealing OFF, then turn it back ON again.

Afterwards, please refer to the following Help article and try verifying your identity once again.

About Letter Sealing key fingerprints toggle
Key fingerprints are unique encryption keys that Letter Sealing gives to each user so they can send messages to one another safely and securely.
Note: The actual keys are kept secret and will not appear in LINE chat rooms.

If your key fingerprint matches your friend's, it means your chat is securely encrypted. To check whether your key fingerprints match, follow the steps below.
Note: Key fingerprint confirmation is optional.

1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen.
2. Tap This chat is protected with Letter Sealing at the bottom of the screen.
3. Compare the key fingerprints on your device and your friend's device.
Note: To compare key fingerprints with your friend, we recommend meeting face-to-face or using a form of communication you trust.

If "This chat is protected with Letter Sealing" doesn't appear, it means Letter Sealing is turned OFF. To turn Letter Sealing ON, follow the steps in this Help article.

The lock icon no longer appears at the top of a chat toggle
To check whether a chat is protected with Letter Sealing, tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen.

If Letter Sealing is enabled, you'll see "This chat is protected with Letter Sealing" at the bottom of the screen.
Note: You'll also see a lock icon at the beginning of the sentence.

If "This chat is protected with Letter Sealing" doesn't appear, see this Help article.

Groups and multi-person chats

Difference between group chats and multi-person chats toggle
There are several differences between group chats and multi-person chats.

Group chats
Group chats let you set a group name and profile photo, as well as use convenient features like Albums and Notes.

However, the friends you invite need to tap the Join button to participate in the group.

To start a group chat:
1. Go to your friend list.
2. From Groups, select the group name and tap Chat.
Note: For the steps to create a group, see here.

Multi-person chats
With multi-person chats, you can start chatting with multiple friends right after being invited.

Compared to groups, the features you can use are limited, but multi-person chats offer the advantage of letting you easily create chat rooms with multiple friends.

To start a multi-person chat:
1. From the Chats tab,tap the speech bubble icon at the top right of the screen.
2. Tap Chat.
3. Choose the friends you want to chat with, then tap Create.

Creating groups toggle
To create a group:

1. At the top right of the Friends tab, tap Add friends (the silhouette icon) > Create group.
2. Enter a name for the group, then select the friends you want to add as members.
3. Tap Done.
Note:
- The friends you invite won't become official group members until they select Join in their invitation.
- If you're using LINE version 8.13.0 or later, your group name can be up to 50 characters long.
- You can update to the latest version of LINE here.

Deleting groups or group members toggle
A group is deleted automatically when all its members have left. If there are still members in a group, follow the steps below to delete them first.

1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Settings.
2. Tap Members/Invite friends > Edit.
3. Tap "-" to the left of the member you want to delete.
4. Tap Remove.

After all of the other members have been deleted, you can delete the group by leaving it.

Inviting new members to a group toggle
To invite new members to a group: 
1. From the Friends tab, tap the group you want to invite friends to.
2. Tap ">" next to the member icons.
3. Tap Invite friends.
4. Select the friends you want to invite, then tap Invite.

Leaving a group toggle
Your chat messages, notes, albums, and photos will not be deleted if you leave a group. If there is anything you want to delete, please do so before leaving the group.

When a group member deletes their account or leaves the group, a message will appear saying "(display name) left the group."

To leave a group:
1. Tap the name of the group you want to leave from the Friends tab.
2. Tap Settings at the top of the screen.
3. Tap Leave group > Leave.

If every member leaves, all of the content posted in the group will be deleted and cannot be restored.

What are multi-person chats? toggle
Multi-person chats are group-like chat rooms created by inviting friends to a 1-on-1 chat.

With normal groups, a user that was invited cannot participate in the group unless they select Join. However, with multi-person chat rooms, you can immediately start chatting with friends who were invited.

Multi-person chats easily allow you to communicate with a number of friends; however, features found in 1-on-1 and group chats (such as Notes and Albums) cannot be used.

If you'd like to share things like information and photos with friends in a multi-person chat room, we suggest making a group out of that multi-person chat.

Can I change the title of a multi-person chat? toggle
We are sorry to say that you cannot change the title of a multi-person chat.

If you create a group out of a multi-person chat room, you can set any title you’d like as long as it’s within 20 characters.

Creating a group from a multi-person chat toggle
To create a group from a multi-person chat room: 
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Create group.
2. Select the friends you want to add and tap Next.
3. Enter a name, set a profile photo, and tap Create.

Important: Messages exchanged in the multi-person chat will not be transferred to the group. To view those past messages, please check the multi-person chat room.

Notes and Albums

What should I do if I accidentally deleted an album? toggle

Once an album is deleted, it can’t be restored.

 

Your friends in the same chat room will also be unable to view the deleted album.

Creating an album toggle
To create an album: 
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Albums.
2. Tap "+" at the bottom right of the screen.
3. Select the photos you want to save, and tap Next.
4. Enter an album name and tap Create.

Note:
- You can enter up to 50 characters for an album name.
- If you don't enter an album name, the name will be the date the album was created by default. 
- The same album name can't be used more than once in the same chat.

Renaming an album toggle
To rename an album: 
1. Tap the menu icon at the top of the chat screen > Albums.

You can save specific photos or save the whole album.

To save an album:

Unsending messages toggle
You can unsend a message within 24 hours of sending it. This removes the message so that it can no longer be seen by anyone in the chat where it was sent, even after it has been read. To unsend a message, just tap and hold it, then select Unsend.

Important: 
- Even if you unsend a message, everyone in the chat will still be able to see a notification saying that you unsent it.
- Anything (e.g. text messages, photos) deleted in a chat room cannot be unsent.
- We will not be able to recover or unsend anything deleted from a chat room.

You can unsend text messages, stickers, photos, videos, voice messages, songs shared from LINE MUSIC, URLs, contact information, location information, files, and call histories.

Deleting chat messages toggle
You can delete messages in chats so they don't appear on your device anytime.
Important: Deleting messages by following the steps below will only delete them on your device, and they will still be visible to any other users in the chat room.

To delete a message:
1. Tap and hold the message you want to delete.

3. Tap Delete and confirm by tapping Delete once again.

You can unsend messages so that other users can no longer see them if 24 hours haven't passed since they were sent (regardless of whether they have been read or not). For more information about unsending messages, see this Help article.

Archiving chats toggle
To archive a chat, please follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Chats tab.

About Keep toggle
Keep is a personal storage service that makes it easy for you to save content and share it with your friends. It lets you upload chat room messages (text), photos, videos, and voice messages directly to LINE's servers.

To see your files saved in Keep, tap your name on your friend list > Keep.

- You can store up to 1GB of data.
- Files over 50MB will only be saved for 30 days.

If you are unable to upload photos, please see the following:

1. You may be over Keep's storage limit
Keep has a total storage limit of 1GB. If you have reached the 1GB limit, you will not be able to save any more files. Please try freeing up some space before adding more files.

You cannot save photos over a certain size and resolution.
The following file sizes can be uploaded:
 - 1 file up to 20MB
 - Resolution up to 10,000x10,000 pixels

Collections let you organize the content you've saved in Keep any way you like.

To add to a collection: 
1. Choose the content you want to add and tap the "+" icon.

To save content in a new collection, tap "+" on the "Add to collection" screen and create a new collection.

- You can make up to 100 collections.
- You can save an unlimited amount of content in each collection.
- Rest assured that deleting a collection will not delete the content itself.

Reporting chats toggle
You can report a user for sending spam or problematic messages from inside a chat room.
Note: If you report someone, they won't be notified that you did so.

To report a chat:

3. Select your reason for reporting the chat, then tap Agree & send.

We will investigate the matter based on your report. If we find that the user has violated our Terms and Conditions, we will take the appropriate actions.

Taking screenshots of chats toggle
With LINE versions 9.5.0 and later, the "Capture" feature lets you take screenshots of chats. After taking a screenshot, you can doodle on them, share them, and save them to your device.

To take a screenshot of a chat:  
1. Tap and hold the first chat message you want to include in the screenshot.
2. Tap Capture.

Making LINE more efficient toggle
If you're using LINE regularly, cached data and chat data start to build up. This is one reason why the app may get bulkier or slower, so we recommend deleting such data from time to time.

To delete the LINE app's cached data:

Problems with images, videos, and audio messages toggle
It may take some times to send, receive, and display images, videos, and audio messages. Images are only stored on our servers for a certain period of time, after which they can no longer be received. We are unable to provide details about how long images are stored.

By tapping the thumbnail received in a chat, you can save the image in your LINE app. To save it in the default gallery app on your device, please tap Save after opening the image.

Images saved in the LINE app will become unavailable if you delete the app's cache using a cache clearing app.

For problems with images, videos, and audio messages, please try the following.

1. Close all running apps.
2. Restart your device.
3. Update your LINE app from the URL below.

I received a chat message saying "Start chatting with your new friend now!" toggle
With LINE, chat rooms are automatically created for recently added friends. "Start chatting with your new friend now!" is always the first message in these chats.

Also, if you or your friend turn the "Allow others to add me" setting ON, your chat room may be recreated and appear at the top of your chat list.

If a chat with a friend you haven't messaged recently appears at the top of your chats, it may be because that friend turned their "Allow others to add me" setting ON.

Rest assured that this message does not mean an account is being impersonated or has been stolen.

Cannot make free voice calls toggle
If you are having problems with free voice calls, the following may be to blame.

1. Your friend is not a LINE user.
2. You may be using an older version of LINE.
3. One of you may be blocking the other.
4. You have "Receive Voice Calls" turned off.
5. You are not mutual friends. Voice calls cannot be made if only one of you has the other as a friend.

If you're experiencing issues with video calls, it may be because:

• The friend you're calling isn't a LINE user.

My friend and I can't hear each other in calls toggle
As voice and video calls are made over an internet connection, you may not be able to hear the other party, or they may sound broken up in the cases listed below. Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection.

You and your friend may have trouble hearing each other in calls if:
• You are connected to a Wi-Fi network accessible by the general public. (We recommend using a 3G or 4G network.)
• You are updating apps, or uploading or downloading files.
• The signal is weak.
• Some router settings are affecting your connection.

To resolve the issue, please try the following (along with your friend):
1. Update the app to the latest version here.
2. Restart your device.
3. Turn your speaker off and on again, and try adjusting the volume.
4. Turn on "Receive Voice Calls" in LINE. For more information, see here.

Note: You may not be able to use effects and filters on some devices.

The above mentioned devices must also be running LINE versions 6.8.0 or later.

Are all free voice and video calls free? toggle
LINE's basic features, including voice calls, video calls, and chats (sending of text, images, and locations, and the use of bots such as the translation or weather bots) are free to use. Some stickers and Coins are available at a fee.

Calling or chatting with users on different mobile service carriers is also free. LINE will not charge you even if you are calling a friend in a different country or using the service while you are traveling.

However, like all other apps, you will be charged by your mobile service carrier for the data used. Depending on your price plan, you may be charged each time you connect to LINE, so we recommend using a flat-rate data plan.

If you are using a flat-rate plan, you should not be charged extra for using 3G, 4G LTE, or Wi-Fi data, but please check with your mobile service carrier for details.

You can use group video calls with the following system specifications:

• iOS: iPhone 5 or later, iPad 4 or later, iPad mini 2 or later, with LINE version 6.9.1 or later
• Android: Android OS 4.1 or later, with LINE version 6.9.2 or later (group video calls are not supported on some devices)

Switching between friends in group video calls with more than 5 people toggle
If you make a group video call with more than 5 people, you can switch which friends are displayed using the following methods:

• Change with split screen display
Tap and hold on a friend from the call members listed on the right side of the screen, then drag them to the screen of the friend you want to switch out.

• Change with full screen display
Tap the friend you want to switch to from the members listed on the bottom of the screen.
