About LINE Out

LINE Out allows you to make low-cost calls from LINE to landlines, mobile phones, and smartphones. It can be used both for domestic and international calls. Calls between LINE users remain free.

Making domestic and international calls with LINE Out

To make a domestic call with LINE Out:

1. Tap the Home tab > See all next to Services.

2. Tap LINE Out Free under Tools.

3. Tap the keypad icon at the top of the screen.

4. Enter the phone number you want to call and tap the phone icon at the bottom of the screen.

If you're making an international call, change the country code before you enter the phone number you want to call. For example, to call a number in the US (country code +1), you need to enter +1 xxx-xxx-xxxx.

To change the country code, tap the country name that appears above the country code, or tap and hold the "0" key and enter it directly once the "+" symbol appears.

Running out of balance in the middle of a call

What phone number appears for my LINE out calls?

When you call someone with LINE Out, the way your number will appear to the other person depends on their device, mobile service provider, and how they have your number saved in their contacts. Your number may not be displayed in some countries or with some mobile service providers.

Please understand there is no way to edit how your number will appear to the person you're calling.

What if I get a call during a LINE Out call?

If you receive a regular incoming call in the middle of a LINE Out phone call, the regular incoming call will be prioritized and the LINE Out phone call will end.

Deleting your call history

To delete your call history, follow the steps below.

Note: You cannot delete your Coin usage history.

Forwarding and holding calls

What are the suggestions that appear when dialing a phone number?

This is a feature in LINE Out that helps you search through your contacts to make calls more efficiently.

Entering a single digit will show you phone number suggestions from your recent call history, and entering 2 to 4 digits will show you phone numbers from your contacts list.

With this feature, you will no longer need to enter a contact's entire phone number.

Changing the currency shown on the keypad screen

To set which currency appears on LINE Out:

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings.

2. Tap LINE Out > Currency display settings.

3. Tap the currency you want to set.

Note: The rate per minute displayed on the keypad and your Call Credit balance will be changed to the currency you selected.

Why do my friends' phone numbers appear on their profiles?

Your friends' phone numbers will appear on their LINE profiles if:

• Their phone numbers are saved in your device's contacts.

• You have the "Call LINE friends from profiles using LINE Out" setting turned on.

When you register a new contact on LINE Out, it will also be registered to your device’s contacts list.

The Contacts list in LINE Out is linked with the contacts list on your device.

Using LINE Out overseas

You can use LINE Out overseas if you meet the requirements below.

• You've created a LINE account in a country where LINE Out is available

As of October 2020, LINE Out is available in the countries listed below.

- Asia: India, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand

- Europe: Turkey

- North and South America: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States

- Oceania: Australia and New Zealand

• You're using a 3G, LTE, or Wi-Fi network connection

Call quality may suffer if you use LINE Out with a weak signal or unstable network connection.

Note:

- LINE Out can only be used to make phone calls. There are no features for receiving calls.

- Some countries restrict communication services that use an internet connection, so please make sure that LINE Out is allowed by the laws and regulations of your registered country. If the use of LINE Out is legally prohibited in your registered country, you cannot use the service.

Can I use LINE Out on devices other than a smartphone?

You need to verify a phone number to use LINE Out. For this reason, you can't make LINE Out calls with devices that don't have phone numbers (such as iPads, iPod touch devices, and tablets).

Phone number verification is required to use LINE Out. If your contract allows you to receive SMS messages in order to verify your phone number, you can use the service.
