How do I check my registered email address and password? toggle
You can check and change your registered email address and change password by accessing the LINE app on the device you used to create your LINE account. 

1. Tap the More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Change Your Email.

Logging in with a QR code toggle
If you haven't registered an email address with LINE, you can log in to LINE for iPad or LINE for PC by scanning a QR code.

To log in with a QR code:
1. Start LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.
2. If you're logging in to LINE for iPad, select Other ways to log in.
3. Open the QR code reader in LINE on your smartphone.
4. Scan the QR code that appears on LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.
5. Select Log in.

For the steps to open the QR code reader in LINE on your smartphone, see the Help article for Android or iOS.

In some cases, a screen may appear asking you to verify your identity. If this screen appears, you can log in after entering a verification code by following the steps in this Help article.

To log out from LINE on the iPad, go to Settings > Account then select Logout.

I was suddenly logged out of LINE toggle
You may be logged out of LINE on the iPad for the following reasons.

- If you log in on another iPad.
- If you change the email address or password on the smartphone version of LINE.
- If you go to the Devices menu on the smartphone version of LINE to log out of LINE on the iPad.
- If you delete your account on the smartphone version of LINE.
- If there is a network error or similar.
- If you turn ON Letter Sealing on the smartphone version of LINE.

An identity verification code appears when I log in to the iPad version of LINE toggle
When logging in to LINE for the first time on your iPad, you will be asked to enter a verification code in the LINE app on your smartphone. This process will be required if you reinstall LINE on the same device.

Please have your smartphone version of LINE on hand, and follow these steps.

1. Log in to LINE on the iPad with your email address and password, or log in with QR code.
2. A 4-digit or 6-digit verification code will be displayed.
3. Start the LINE app on your smartphone and enter the verification code shown on your iPad.

Removing locks on your smartphone's unlock method toggle
If you make too many failed attempts at using your smartphone's unlock method, you will be locked out from using it. To remove a lock on your smartphone's unlock method, follow the steps below for your device.

Removing locks on iPhones
If Touch ID or Face ID are locked, you'll be prompted to enter your passcode when logging in. Enter your passcode and log in again with Touch ID or Face ID.

Removing locks on Android smartphones
If there is a lock on your biometric authentication method (e.g. fingerprint, eye, face), you can remove it with the PIN code or unlock pattern you set on your smartphone.

Important: Be sure to use the passcode configured on your smartphone, which is not the same as the passcode lock for LINE.

Logging in to LINE on your iPad or PC using your smartphone's unlock method toggle
See below for the steps to log in to LINE using your smartphone's unlock method.

When logging in to LINE with your smartphone's unlock method for the first time:
1. Start LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.
2. Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and select Log in with smartphone.
3. Select Show verification code.
4. Start the smartphone version of LINE.
5. Select the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account > Pair a new device.
6. Enter the six-digit verification code that appears on LINE for iPad or LINE for PC into your smartphone.
7. Use your smartphone's unlock method when prompted to do so.

When logging in after the first time:
1. Start LINE for iPad or LINE for PC.
2. Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and select Log in with smartphone.
3. Start the smartphone version of LINE.
4. Use your smartphone's unlock method when prompted to do so.

"Login successful!" will appear when you're logged in. The LINE official account will also send a login notification message to you in the smartphone version of LINE.

Required settings for logging in to LINE for iPad or PC with your smartphone's unlock method toggle
To be able to log in to your LINE account on an iPad or PC using your smartphone's unlock method, you need to: 
• Set an unlock method on your smartphone.
• Allow your smartphone's unlock method to be used for logins in the LINE app. 

Setting an unlock method on your smartphone
For iOS:

Check your phone manufacturer's website for details on how to set an unlock method.

Note: LINE will never save your unlock method.

Allowing your smartphone's unlock method to be used for logins in the LINE app
1. Tap the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Face ID/Touch ID for iOS or Device unlock method for Android > Enable

You'll know setup is complete when you see Unlink in the field for Face ID/Touch ID or your smartphone's unlock method.

Using your smartphone unlock method to log in is more secure because you are the only person who can use it.

You can increase your account security even more by not allowing logins with an email address and password. To only allow your account to be logged in to with your smartphone's unlock method or a QR code, tap the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account and turn Log in with password OFF.
Note: Turning Log in with password OFF will not log you out of any devices you're already logged in to.

Disabling your smartphone's unlock method for logging in to LINE toggle
To disable your smartphone's unlock method for logging in to LINE: 
1. Start the smartphone version of LINE.
2. Tap the Home/Friends tab > Settings > Account.
3. Tap Face ID/Touch ID for iOS or Device unlock method for Android > Disable.

When you disable your smartphone's unlock method for logging in to LINE, you'll be logged out of your account on iPad and PC. To use your account on an iPad or PC again, log in with your email address and password or with a QR code.

About using your smartphone's unlock method to log in to LINE toggle
You can log in to LINE more securely by using your own device unlock method that you've set up on your smartphone.

To use this login method, you must: 
• Be using LINE version 10.18.0 or later.
• Be able to log in to LINE for iPad or LINE for PC (for Windows or Mac).

Using your smartphone unlock method to log in is more secure because you are the only person who can use it. The device unlock methods that are available depend on your OS, and include facial and fingerprint recognition.
Note: LINE will never save your unlock method.

Logging in with an email address toggle
To log in to LINE for iPad with an email address, you must first register an email address with the device that you normally use LINE on. For the steps to register an email address, see this Help article.

After registering your email address, follow the steps below.
Note: If you haven't installed LINE for iPad, you can download it here.

1. Start LINE for iPad.
2. Select Other ways to log in > Log in with email.
3. Enter your registered email address and password, then select Log in.

If you're logging in for the first time or have reinstalled LINE, you may also need to complete the following steps:
4. Check the four-or-six-digit verification code that appears.
5. Start LINE on your smartphone and enter the verification code (four or six digits) that appears on LINE for iPad.
6. On your smartphone, select Verify > OK.

Account Management

Friends see duplicate accounts toggle
If you create a new LINE account on a new device without deleting the account on your previous device, you will end up having two accounts.

Your old account cannot be deleted if you no longer have access to your previous device. Please ask your friends to block your old account in this case.

Difference between accounts and IDs toggle
A LINE account is defined as the phone number, name, photo, ID, and other information used on LINE. By deleting your account, all of the above information will be deleted.

An ID is a key used to identify LINE users. This is not configured by default when you first start using the service, and you can configure one by going to More > Settings > Profile. LINE IDs cannot be changed once configured.

With a LINE ID, users who don't know your phone number can easily find and add you as a friend if you exchange IDs with them. If you do not want other users to find you using your ID, you can turn off “Public User ID” under Profile in the Settings menu.

Publicizing LINE IDs on the internet for the purpose of meeting a person for sexual encounters is prohibited by the Terms and Conditions and Use.

LINE ID

Setting a LINE ID toggle
1. Tap the settings icon > Profile > User ID.
2. Enter the ID you want to use and tap Check.
3. If you see "This User ID is available" tap Register.

LINE IDs cannot be changed or deleted once set. If you see "This User ID is unavailable" another user is using the ID, so please try a different ID.

Publicizing LINE IDs on the internet for the purpose of dating and matchmaking is prohibited by the Terms and Conditions and Use.

Unable to use desired LINE ID toggle
If you see “This User ID is unavailable.” or “This ID is already in use.” when trying to set your ID, or if you see another user when searching with the ID you want to use in Add Friends, the ID is already in use.

As LINE does not allow duplicates of the same ID, please try using another one.

What characters can be used for LINE ID? toggle

For LINE ID you can use half-width alphanumeric characters as well as these 3 symbols . - _. Please note you cannot use half-width upper case letters.

Status Message

What is a Status Message? toggle
A Status Message is your space to sum up your thoughts and feelings. You can also let other LINE users know how you are via these speech bubbles. 
You can also check your friends' Status Message from your Friends list. 

To set your Status Message:
1. Go to More > Profile.
2. Tap Status Message.
