If only I know the other person's phone number, can the other person see my profile?

Important: The contents of this article only apply to LINE accounts created with LINE versions earlier than 13.11.0.

If a person with your mobile phone number registered in their contacts list starts LINE, they will automatically be added to your friends list. If you do not wish to automatically add friends, please turn off Auto Add Friends on your smartphone.

If your phone number is not registered in their contacts list, you appear under their Friends Recommendations, where your LINE Display name, profile photo, Status Message, and Home background image will be displayed. However, they will not be able to see any other information.

If you want to be deleted from their Friend Recommendations list, you must delete your account from your smartphone.

Likewise, once your account has been added to their friends list, you will remain there unless you delete your own account.

Someone is impersonating me on LINE

Important: The contents of this article only apply to LINE accounts created with LINE versions earlier than 13.11.0.

If you selected to send the contacts data on your smartphone to LINE's servers when you signed up for an account, the phone numbers in your contacts will be used to search for your friends who use LINE. If someone is using LINE with the relevant phone number, they will appear in your friend list on LINE with the name registered in your contacts.

Therefore, if the owner of a phone number in your contacts on your smartphone has changed, it's possible the person actually using the LINE account in your friend list is not your friend but someone else.

Check if the information for the account in question isn't registered in contacts multiple times, or if the phone number and email address registered in contacts for the person in question isn't outdated.

Blocking accounts that appear in your friend recommendations

To block an account that appears in your friend recommendations:

1. From the Home tab, tap the Add friends icon at the top right of your friend list.

2. Tap the account you want to block.

3. Tap Block.

Blocking accounts

When you block an account on LINE:

• You'll no longer be able to receive messages from them.

• It will appear in Blocked accounts instead of your friend list.

Be advised:
Blocking an account doesn't completely remove it as a friend or friend recommendation..

To block an account:

1. Tap the Home tab > your friend list.
2. Swipe to the left the account you want to block.
3. Tap Block > Block.

To unblock an account:

1. Tap Settings > Friends.
2. Tap Blocked accounts.
3. Tap the account you want to unblock.
4. Tap Unblock > Unblock.
Note: It may take some time for the changes to be applied.

Removing friends

Removing a friend deletes them from your friends list, and unlike blocking, cannot be undone. Please be careful when removing a friend you cannot contact otherwise.

1. Tap the settings icon > Friends.

2. Tap Hidden Users or Blocked Users.

3. Tap Edit next to the friend you wish to remove.

4. Tap Remove.
