About the Exchange Money service

This service lets you use LINE Pay to order and pay for exchanging foreign currency.

You can use your LINE Pay balance or Pay-easy to pay for your order.

To make payments using your LINE Pay balance, you need to be a LINE Pay Money account holder with your identity already verified. If you’re already a Money account holder, you will not be able to make payments using Pay-easy.

You can pick up your order at the currency exchange counter of select airports, or have it delivered to your home, workplace, or a post office in Narita Airport (terminal 1 or 2)/Kansai International Airport.

Note: The Currency Exchange via Korean ATM service (currency exchange service with Shinhan Bank) has ended.

How to order a currency exchange

To place an order for a currency exchange:

Note: This service is only available in Japanese.

1. Tap Exchange Money from the main menu on LINE Pay.

2. Select your payment method.

3. Check and agree to the Terms of Use and service description.

4. Enter your required information.

5. Select how to receive your order and the date.

6. Select the currency type and amount to exchange.

7. Make your payment (using either your LINE Pay balance or Pay-easy).

Once the payment for your order has been completed, a notification message from the LINE Wallet official account will be sent to you. You can view the details for your order from this notification.

Are there fees for delivering my money exchange?

If you choose to have your order delivered to your home, work place, or a post office in Narita Airport (terminal 1 or 2)/Kansai International Airport, delivery fees will apply based on the amount ordered.

Delivery fees will not be applied to orders that are picked up at a currency exchange counter. For information about currency exchange counters, please see this page.

How to check the status of your delivery

When the foreign currency you ordered is sent out, you will receive a message from the LINE Wallet with a Japan Post tracking number.

You can use this number to check the delivery status using Japan Post’s tracking service.

Can I choose the date and time if I select nationwide delivery?

No, you will not be able to set a date and time if you choose nationwide delivery (to your home or workplace).

In general, once a currency exchange order is made, it will be sent out the following business day.

Note:

- The nationwide delivery service uses Japan Post to deliver orders.

- Your order may be delayed or may not arrive depending on traffic and weather conditions, or in the event of a natural disaster.

- Delivery is not available for some regions.

Can I exchange more than one currency at once?

You cannot exchange multiple currencies at a time.

If you have multiple currencies you want to exchange, please make a separate order for each one.

Is there a limit to the amount of money I can exchange?

You can exchange between 10,000 and 100,000 JPY a day (or equivalent amount when converted to JPY), and up to a total of 300,000 JPY a month.

Please keep in mind that the minimum amount that can be handled will vary by currency.

Note: The maximum amount you can pick up at an airport at a given time is 100,000 JPY (or equivalent amount when converted to JPY).

Which currencies can I make money exchange orders for?

The types of currencies you can order, as well as the minimum required amounts and increments that can be ordered, are as follows:

Korean won: KRW 10,000 increments from KRW 100,000

US dollar: USD 10 increments from USD 100

Chinese yuan: CNY 100 increments from CNY 1,000

Euro: EUR 10 increments from EUR 100

British pound: GBP 10 increments from GBP 100

Hong Kong dollar: HKD 100 increments from HKD 1,000

New Taiwan dollar: TWD 100 increments from TWD 3,000

Is there a service fee for exchanging money?

Service fees are included in the exchange rate at the time the order is placed.

Additionally, if you use nationwide delivery (sent to your home or workplace) or choose to have your order sent to a post office in Narita Airport (terminal 1 or 2)/Kansai International Airport, you will be charged a delivery fee based on the amount that was exchanged.

Note: You will not be charged a delivery fee if you pick up your order at a currency exchange counter. Please see this page for details.

You can have an order delivered to your home or workplace. You can also choose to pick it up at a post office in Narita Airport (terminal 1 or 2)/Kansai International Airport, or at any of the currency exchange counters listed below:

• Haneda Airport International Terminal (beyond the security checkpoint)

• Haneda Airport Domestic Terminal

• Fukuoka International Airport

• Port of Hakata

Do I need anything when I pick up my exchange order at the airport?

When you pick up your order, show the person at the counter the barcode for your information by going to the main menu on LINE Pay and tapping Exchange Money > ご利用明細画面 (the statement screen) > 照会 (reference).

You can also check the message that was sent by the LINE Wallet's account.

Additionally, when picking up your order at the post office in the airport, you will also need your passport or some form of a photo ID.

If you're unable to show the barcode, you can still pick up your order with the order number and your passport or some form of a photo ID.

Note: This option is only available when picking up your order from a currency exchange counter at the airport.

When is the applied exchange rate determined?

The exchange rate will be the rate set by the bank at the time an order is received.

Please keep in mind that the exchange rate may change due to fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. Be sure to check the exchange rate when placing an order.

How long will it take to receive my order?

If you choose to pick up your order at the currency exchange counter of a select air/sea port or a post office in Narita Airport (terminal 1 or 2)/Kansai International Airport, you can specify a day to pick it up. You need to choose a date that is at least 5 days after you placed your order and no longer than 30 days later.

Note: You cannot set a pickup time.

Please understand that you cannot specify a delivery date if you selected nationwide delivery (to your home or workplace).
