About Google Pay (iD payments)

Google Pay is a service that lets you safely and securely make payments simply by holding your Android smartphone over a terminal device. To take advantage of this service, just add your Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa LINE Pay prepaid card to Google Pay.

Devices that support Google Pay (iD payments)

You can use Google Pay (to make iD payments) on devices running:

• Android OS version 5.0 or later.

• The Osaifu-Keitai app (version 6.1.5 or higher).

Note: Osaifu-Keitai (おサイフケータイ) is a registered trademark of NTT DOCOMO, INC.

To use Google Pay, you also need to download and install version 11.1 or later of the LINE app on your device.

Adding your card to Google Pay (iD payments) if you haven't subscribed for the iD payment service

If you're using LINE Pay and have one of the following cards, you can add your card to Google Pay even if you haven't subscribed for the iD payment service.

Setting your default card

The first card you add to Google Pay becomes your default card. To reset or confirm your default card, follow the steps below.

Note: You'll need to install the Google Pay app.

1. Open the Google Pay app.

2. Tap Payment at the bottom of the screen.

3. Tap the payment method you want to make your default.

4. Tap Make default.

Setting up Visa contactless payments

To set up Visa contactless payments, follow the steps below.

Note: After you've created a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card, you can add it as a payment method.

1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Google Pay > Visa contactless payments.

2. Tap Add to Google Pay.

3. Enter your LINE Pay passcode, then tap Continue.

4. After being redirected to the Google Settings screen, follow the on-screen instructions and finish setting up contactless payments.

You may need to unlock your device to make Visa contactless payments.

I can't add my card to Google Pay (iD payments)

If you can't add your card to Google Pay (e.g. you see an error), make sure that:

• You aren't trying to add a JCB brand LINE Pay card. (JCB brand LINE Pay cards cannot be added.)

• The card you're trying to add wasn't suspended.

• You've deleted any canceled cards from Google Play before trying to add a newly issued card.

• You're using the latest version of the LINE app.

• You're using Google Pay on a device that supports the service.

• You're adding a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card from within the LINE app.

Note: For the steps to do so, see this Help article.

You may temporarily be unable to add your card if you fail to add it multiple times in a row. If this is the case, try again after waiting at least one day, or contact Google for assistance.

Using Google Pay (iD payments/Visa contactless payments)

By adding one of the following cards to Google Pay on a compatible device, you can use the service at Visa merchants that support contactless payments and merchants bearing the "iD" logo.

• Visa LINE Pay credit card

• Visa LINE Pay prepaid card

Tell the cashier that you want to make a Visa or iD payment, then hold your device over the scanning terminal.

Note:

- You may need to unlock your device to make Visa contactless payments.

- Some devices (such as Google Pixel) may need to be unlocked to make iD payments.

To make online payments with Google Pay, you'll need to do one of the following:

• Register an additional payment method on the Google Pay website.

• Download the Google Pay app and register your information.

Places where Google Pay (iD payments/Visa contactless payments) is accepted

You can use Google Pay at:

• Visa merchants that support Visa contactless payments

• iD merchants

• Online Google Pay merchants

To make online payments with Google Pay, you'll need to do one of the following:

• Register an additional payment method on the Google Pay website.

• Download the Google Pay app and register your information.

Can I use Google Pay (iD payments/Visa contactless payments) outside of Japan?

iD payments with Google Pay can only be made at iD merchants in Japan.

However, you can use Google Pay to make Visa contactless payments at overseas merchants if the following conditions are met.

• You're using a LINE Money account.

• You've set up Visa contactless payments.

• The Visa merchant supports Visa contactless payments.

Note: You'll need to unlock your device to make Visa contactless payments.

Will I get a payment notification via LINE when I use Google Pay (iD payments)?

Payment notifications are sent via LINE when you use Google Pay (iD payments).

Note: Notifications may also be delayed or not sent, depending on where the payment was made.

I can't make an iD payment with Google Pay

If you added a Visa LINE Pay credit card to Google Pay, make sure that:

• There are no issues with your card.

• The device you set your card on supports Google Pay.

If you added a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card to Google Pay, make sure that:

• There are no issues with your card.

• The device you set your card on supports Google Pay.

Using Google Pay after changing devices

You need to register Google Pay once again on your new Android device.

Can I continue to use Google Pay (iD payments) if I delete my LINE Pay account?

If you added a Visa LINE Pay credit card:

You can continue to use Google Pay, but you will not be eligible to receive Point rewards without a LINE Pay account.

If you added a Visa LINE Pay prepaid card:
