Helpful chat features
For information about using notes, see the following sections.

- If a chat becomes inaccessible due to everyone in the chat leaving/deleting their LINE accounts, or the admin of the OpenChat deletes the room, the notes that were created in the relevant chat will be deleted after being stored for a certain period of time.
- OpenChat is only available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Creating/editing/deleting/sharing notes:

To create, edit, delete, or share a note, see the following information.
To create a note:
1. Click

2. Click New note.
You can post content such as stickers, photos, and web links.
Note:
- Up to 20 stickers and photos can be attached per note.
- Sound/animated stickers cannot be attached along with ordinary stickers.
- Only one sound/animated sticker can be attached per note.
To edit/delete a note:
1. Click the note you want to edit or delete.
2. Click

3. Click Edit > Post or Delete.
Note: You can only edit or delete your own posts.
To share a note:
You can share a note again in the chat it was created in. Click


- If you don't want anyone in the chat to be able to see the message, you can remove it up to 24 hours after it was sent by clicking Unsend, regardless of whether it has been read or not.
- After you unsend a message, a notice will appear for everyone in the chat showing that you removed it.
Turning off note notifications:
Notifications for notes are sent to you as push notifications.
To turn off note notifications:
1. At the bottom of the main menu, click

2. Click Notifications.
3. Uncheck Send notifications for notes in 1-on-1 and group chats.
Searching notes:
1. Click

2. Click

You can search for:
• Text
• Hashtags (by entering "#" followed by a keyword)
Note:
- The search box only appears on the Notes menu screen.
- Prohibited terms, such as words that may violate our guidelines, cannot be searched for using hashtags.

About albums:
You can use albums in 1-on-1 and group chats.
Note: You cannot use albums in multi-person chats made in the past. If you want to create albums, refer to Creating a group from a multi-person chat.
Anyone in the chat can upload photos to an album.
You can post up to:
• 100 albums per chat.
• 1,000 photos per album.
• 300 photos per upload.
Note:
- There is a monthly limit to the number of photos that can be uploaded per user. This limit is lifted at 12:00 am (UTC+9) on the first of the following month.
- This limit was implemented on September 1, 2023 (UTC+9).
If a chat becomes inaccessible for the following reasons, the albums that were created in the relevant chat will be deleted after being stored for a certain period of time.
• Everyone in the chat left
• Everyone in the chat deleted their LINE accounts
Basics of using albums:

Creating albums
To create an album from the chat menu:1. Click

2. Click + Create album.
3. Enter a name for the album and click

4. Select the items to add to the album and click Open.
5. Click Create.
To create an album from items sent in a chat:
1. Right-click the item in a chat that you want to add to an album.
2. Click Add to album > Create album.
3. Enter a name for the album and click Create.
Note: If there's an item you didn't want to add to the album, move your mouse cursor over the item and click

You can enter up to 50 characters for an album name.
Note:
- If you don't enter an album name, the name will be the date the album was created by default.
- The same album name cannot be used more than once in the same chat.
To rename a created album, click


Adding items to albums
To add items directly to an album:1. Click

2. Click

3. Select the items to add to the album and click Open > Add.
To add items sent in a chat to an album:
1. Right-click the item in a chat that you want to add to an album.
2. Click Add to album > the album you want to add the item to.
3. Click Add.
Note: You can add up to 20 photos at one time.
Saving albums or individual items from albums
To save entire albums of items:1. Click

2. Click the album you want to save items from.
3. Click Save all.
4. Select a folder to save the album to, then click Select Folder or Open.
To save individual items from albums:
1. Click

2. Click the album you want to save items from.
3. Hover over the item you want to save with your cursor and click

Note: You can also select multiple items by clicking

4. Select a folder to save the items to and click Save.
Deleting albums or individual items from albums

1. Click

2. Click

3. Click OK.
To delete items from an album:
1. Click

2. Click the item you want to delete.
3. Click

Sharing albums or individual items from albums
You can share an album again in the chat it was created in.To share an album:
1. Click

2. Click

3. Click Share album > Share.
You can share items saved in albums with friends or groups.
To share album items:
1. Click

2. Click an album.
3. Select the item you want to share, then click

4. Select who you want to send the item to, then click Share.

Using All albums to view all of your albums at once:
The All albums feature lets you check all of your albums from various chats.
The albums displayed in All albums include:
• Albums created in 1-on-1 chats with friends.
• Albums created in groups that you're a member of.
• Albums from hidden/deleted 1-on-1 and group chats.
Albums created in the following chats will not be displayed in All albums:
• A chat with a friend who deleted their LINE account.
Note: You'll still be able to see albums in your chat with them.
• A group you're no longer a member of (because you left or were removed from it).
All albums shows up to 1,000 albums from chats where photos were uploaded.
To use the All albums feature:
• From the main menu, click

• Click

• At the top of a chat, click


Regardless of the album, you can view all of your albums' photos by selecting Photos. Choosing a photo and clicking See album under it will take you to the album that includes the relevant photo.

Creating, editing and deleting polls
Creating polls
1. Open the chat you want to make a poll in.2. At the top of the chat screen, click


3. Click the Text or Date tab and enter or select the required information.
• Text: You can make the options for the poll text-only or combine text and images.
• Date: You can create a poll with dates as the options.
4. Click Done.
If you want to let every chat member know about the poll you made, please use the announce feature.
A poll notification message is automatically sent to the relevant chat when you create a poll. Click Vote now at the bottom of the message to see the current poll results.
Editing polls
If no one has voted in a poll yet, only the member who created the poll will be able to edit its content.Note: The poll cannot be edited after someone has voted in it.
To edit a poll:
1. Click

2. Click the poll you want to edit.
3. Click

4. Edit the content of the poll and click Done.
You can allow anyone in the chat to add poll options by checking Allow new options when you create a new poll.
Note: Options can be added even after people have answered the poll.
Deleting polls
You can only delete polls that you created yourself.To delete a poll:
1. Click

2. Click the poll you want to delete.
3. Click

Participating in polls
1. Click Vote now in the poll message you received.2. Select an option and click Vote.
The content of the poll will automatically be added to Notes.
Checking poll results
Once a poll's set voting period ends or the poll creator chooses to end it, a message announcing that the poll has closed along with the top-ranked option of the poll will appear in the chat.Clicking See more results lets you see the results of the poll, voting statuses, and who voted for what options.
Note: You will not be able to see who voted for each option if Anonymous votes was selected when the poll was created.
Checking old polls
Use any of the methods below to check old polls:• Click

• Click Vote now at the bottom of the poll message.

Default folders
These folders automatically categorize your chats into one of the folders listed below.
Note: A folder may not appear if you don't have any chats to go in it.
• All: Shows all of your chats
• Friends: Shows 1-on-1 chats with your friends
• Groups: Shows your group chats
• OpenChats: Shows all of your OpenChats
Note: OpenChat is only available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
• AI: Shows your chats with AI services (Windows/Mac only)
• Official accounts: Shows official account chats
Enabling/disabling chat folders
1. Click

2. Click Chats.
3. Under Chat folder, uncheck the box next to Enable chat folders to turn the feature OFF, or check it to turn the feature ON.

[Windows/Mac] Adding and organizing chat folders
In addition to the default folders, you can create your own folders and organize your chats for any purpose (e.g. based on family, work, friends). To add and organize chat folders, see the following sections.
Creating new folders
To create a new folder:1. To the right of your available chat folders, click the edit icon.
2. Click

3. Enter a folder name, select the chats you want to add to the chat folder, and click Add.
4. Click

Note: You can create up to 10 new chat folders.
Renaming folders
Note: Default folders (e.g. All, Friends, Groups, AI, Official accounts, OpenChats) cannot be renamed.To rename a folder:
1. Right-click the tab of the chat folder you want to rename.
2. Click Change folder name.
3. Enter a new folder name.
Reordering folders
1. To the right of your available chat folders, click the edit icon.2. Click and hold a folder, then drag and drop it to your preferred location.
Adding chats to folders
Note:- Chats cannot be manually added to default folders (e.g. All, Friends, Groups, AI, Official accounts, OpenChats).
- OpenChat is only available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
To add chats to a folder:
1. Right-click the tab of the chat folder that you want to add a chat to.
2. Click Add chat.
3. Select the chat you want to add to the chat folder and click Add.
Note: You can add up to 100 chats to a chat folder.
Moving chats from default folders to folders you created
To move a chat to another chat folder, use one of the following methods.• Select the chat you want to move, then drag and drop it in your preferred chat folder.
• Right-click the chat that you want to move, click Move to, select your preferred chat folder.
Note:
- Chats cannot be moved between default folders (e.g. All, Friends, Groups, AI, Official accounts, OpenChats).
- OpenChat is only available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
Moving chats from folders you created to default folders
1. Right-click the tab of the chat folder that has the chat you want to move.2. Click Remove chat.
3. Select the chat you want to move and click Remove.
Deleting folders
Note:- Default folders (e.g. All, Friends, Groups, AI, Official accounts, OpenChats) can't be deleted.
- OpenChat is only available in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
To delete a chat folder:
1. Right-click the chat folder you want to delete.
2. Click Delete folder > Delete.
Note: Any chats that are in a chat folder when it's deleted will automatically be moved to your default folders.
