Cashless payment rebate program

About the cashless payment rebate program toggle
Note: The cashless payment rebate program ended on June 30, 2020.

To go along with the consumption tax rate increase that went into effect in October 2019, the Japanese government has initiated a program offering point rebates for cashless payments made at participating merchants until June 30, 2020. This measure is meant to help offset any decrease in demand, accelerate the use of cashless payment methods, and improve consumer convenience.

When you use LINE Pay, you'll get 5% back in Points for payments made at participating small and mid-size merchants, and 2% back for payments made at franchise stores.
Note: For information on the rebate rates for each merchant, see their in-store posters or notices.

Points are also issued for LINE POINT CLUB, so you can get a total of up to 8% back in rebates.

For online/card payments with a Visa LINE Pay credit card or iD payments, you'll receive discounts for purchases made from the following month instead of receiving Points.

I can't use a LINE Pay coupon (reward coupon) toggle
You cannot use a LINE Pay coupon for a payment if:

• A minimum payment amount has been set for the coupon, and the discount amount is greater than the payment total
LINE Pay coupons for a specified amount that have a minimum payment amount set in their terms of use cannot be used if the discount is greater than the price of the item you are trying to purchase.

Example: If you have a coupon for a discount of JPY 100 that can be used for My Code payments of JPY 101 or more, it cannot be used on an item that costs JPY 90.

LINE Pay safety toggle
You can protect your LINE Pay account from being used by anyone else by setting a separate passcode (different from your LINE account password). This extra layer of security is to keep your account safe, even if your device is lost or stolen.
Note: If you haven't set a LINE Pay passcode, please do so to ensure that you can use the service safely and securely.

At that time, your LINE profile information will appear at the top of the screen and you can confirm the LINE Pay payment.

LINE Pay credit card verification toggle
LINE Pay's credit card verification works in cooperation with the 3-D Secure systems offered by credit card companies in order to protect against any unauthorized use.

Once your card has been verified, it will be registered on LINE Pay. Afterwards, all you need to do to make a payment is enter your LINE Pay passcode.
Note: If you're using LINE Pay in Taiwan, see this page for details.

When verifying your card, LINE Pay uses a secure network to check that your card company uses the 3-D Secure system. Even if you've never signed up for 3-D Secure, you can sign up for it right away from LINE Pay as long as your card company offers it.

Each credit card company may have a different service name for their 3-D Secure system.

Additionally, you won’t be able to register a card on LINE Pay if the company for that card doesn't offer 3-D Secure.

When your card is verified, a very small payment will be charged to your credit card in order to check its validity. The payment will immediately be canceled and the amount for that payment will be refunded to your card.

If you are unable to verify your credit card, see this Help article.
