Visa LINE Pay credit card
About the Visa LINE Pay credit card
A Visa brand credit card with all of the perks of LINE Pay, the Visa LINE Pay credit card can be used in over 200 countries and regions around the world.
• Make payments at LINE Pay merchants without adding money to your LINE Pay balance in advance.
• Earn Points after linking your Visa LINE Pay credit card to LINE Pay.
- Points for Add & Pay
Before 11:59 pm on April 30, 2021: Depending on your level, payments made at LINE Pay merchants using Add & Pay earn back 1-3% of your purchase total as Points. (The My Level system has ended as of 11:59 pm on April 30, 2021.)
After 12 am on May 1, 2021: Payments made with your Visa LINE Pay credit card using Add & Pay earn back 0.5% of your purchase total as Points.
- Points for credit card purchases
Credit card purchases made at Visa merchants earn back 3% of your purchase total as Points.
Note: The first-year perks for the Visa LINE Pay credit card have ended as of 11:59 pm on April 30, 2021. Credit card purchases made between 12 am on May 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022 will earn back 2% of your purchase totals as Points.
About LINE Points eligibility
You need to link your Visa LINE Pay credit card to LINE Pay to receive Points.
About the annual credit card fee
There is no annual fee for the first year. After the first year, there is an annual fee of JPY 1,375 (including tax); however, you will not be charged the annual fee if you make at least one credit card purchase a year.

To apply for a Visa LINE Pay credit card, tap Apply for or register a new card under the "Visa LINE Pay credit card" banner. You can also apply for a card here (only available in Japanese).
Note: Users under 20 must have the permission of a parent or guardian to apply.
A routine review is performed for all applications. Information about your review will be sent to the email address that you registered when applying for the card. If you are using any email filters, make sure to allow emails from the following domains:
• vpass.ne.jp
• smbc-card.com

How long does it take to receive the Visa LINE Pay credit card after applying?
After finishing the online application for your Visa LINE Pay credit card, the time it takes for the card to arrive will differ depending on which method you used for setting a bank account.
If you set the bank account online:
Your card will arrive about one week after you finished setting the bank account.
If you set the bank account via post:
Your card will arrive within two to three weeks of sending your bank account information.

Registering a Visa LINE Pay credit card to LINE Pay
To register your Visa LINE Pay credit card to your LINE Pay account:
1. From the LINE Pay main menu, tap Apply for or register a new card under "Visa LINE Pay credit card" > Link card.
2. Enter your card information.
3. Tap Add a card.
Note:
- You can also register your Visa LINE Pay credit card from Add Credit Card on the LINE Pay main menu.
- You will not earn Points until your Visa LINE Pay credit card is registered to your LINE Pay account.

Can I register more than one Visa LINE Pay credit card to LINE Pay?
Only one Visa LINE Pay credit card can be added to a LINE Pay account.
If you're registering a newly issued Visa LINE Pay credit card to your LINE Pay account, make sure to delete the card that you were using previously first.

About Add & Pay
Add & Pay lets you make payments without adding money to your LINE Pay balance in advance.
Payment amounts are charged to your Visa LINE Pay credit card or Visa credit card issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Card (SMBC) registered with LINE Pay.
Note: ANA cards are excluded.
Add & Pay can be used with:
• Code payments.
• Online payments.
• Payments using the Pay bill feature.
Add & Pay cannot be used with:
• ANA cards issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Card (SMBC).
• Credit cards other than the Visa credit cards issued by Sumitomo Mitsui Card (SMBC).
• Google Pay (QUICPay+).
• Apple Pay (iD payments).
• Google Pay (iD payments).
Important:
- Add & Pay cannot be used together with your LINE Pay balance or LINE Pay Bonus.
- Add & Pay may not be accepted at some merchants.

Using your Visa LINE Pay credit card
You can use your Visa LINE Pay credit card at LINE Pay or Visa merchants.
LINE Pay merchants
By registering a Visa LINE Pay credit card to your LINE Pay account, you can use Add & Pay to make code payments, online payments, and payments using the Pay bill feature.

Visa merchants
For information on how to use your Visa LINE Pay credit card at Visa merchants, see here (only available in Japanese).
By adding your card to Apple Pay, you can also make:
• iD payments.
• Visa contactless payments.
• Online payments at stores where Apple Pay is accepted.
Note: You won't earn Points if your Visa LINE Pay credit card isn't registered to your LINE Pay account.
When you add the Visa payment method to Apple Pay, the Visa brand logo will appear as the image for your Visa LINE Pay credit card in Apple Wallet on your iPhone. If you don't see the logo, delete your card and add it once again by following the steps below.
Note: The Visa payment method will not be added if you only enter the security code after deleting your card.
1. In Apple Wallet, tap "+" > Continue > Credit or Prepaid Card > Enter Card Details Manually.
2. Enter your credit card information and tap Next.

Visa LINE Pay credit card limits
Spending limit for payments at Visa merchants
Check your limit on the Vpass online service offered for Sumitomo Mitsui credit card holders (only available in Japanese).
Note: You'll need to log in to your Vpass account.
LINE Pay spending limits
Check your limits by going to the LINE Pay main menu and tapping Settings > Balance Types and Limits.
If you've exceeded your Visa LINE Pay credit card limit, you cannot use Add & Pay to make payments at LINE Pay merchants. In this case, change your payment method to LINE Pay balance when using LINE Pay to make payments at LINE Pay merchants.
Note:
- You need to add money before you can make payments from your LINE Pay balance.
- Make sure you haven't exceeded your LINE Pay spending limits.
To change your payment method to your LINE Pay balance, go to the LINE Pay main menu and tap Add & Pay or Payment method in the middle of the screen.

Making installment and revolving payments with Add & Pay
To set up installment or revolving payments, first complete a payment and then apply for あとから分割 (Pay with installments later) or あとからリボ (Make revolving payments later) on the Vpass online service offered for Sumitomo Mitsui credit card holders.
Note: You cannot choose to make installment or revolving payments before making a payment with LINE Pay.

Payment and withdrawal dates
For Add & Pay purchases
As a rule, the amounts for transactions completed between the first and last day of each month are withdrawn on the 26th of the following month.
Note: When the 26th is a Saturday, Sunday, or national holiday, the withdrawal date will be the next business day.
To check the "Transaction complete" date for a payment, go to the LINE Pay main menu, tap History, and select the payment.
For credit card purchases at Visa merchants
Check your payment details on the Vpass online service for Sumitomo Mitsui credit card holders (only available in Japanese).

When are Points issued?
Points are issued within a few days of the date you see in your history on the Vpass online service for Sumitomo Mitsui credit card holders. (Only available in Japanese).
You will not receive a notification message from the LINE Wallet official account when your Points are issued.
Note: To check your history or payment details, you need to log in to your Vpass account.
To check the Points you've received, go to the LINE main menu > Wallet > LINE POINT CLUB > History.
You will not be issued Points if your LINE account's verified country is changed from Japan to any other country before Points are issued.

To check payments made at LINE Pay merchants:
Go to the LINE Pay main menu and tap History.

Can I add money to my LINE Pay balance from a Visa LINE Pay credit card?
You cannot add money to your LINE Pay balance from a Visa LINE Pay credit card. However, by linking the card to LINE Pay, you can make payments at LINE Pay merchants without adding money in advance using Add & Pay.

Refund timing for canceled payments
It can take a few days or up to several months to receive refunds for canceled Add & Pay payments or card payments made at Visa merchants.
Note: The refund will not be made to your LINE Pay balance.
Also, a refund cannot be issued until the cancelation has been processed by the merchant. You can check the cancelation status for online payments in the relevant online service's purchase history.
For Add & Pay
Refunds are issued once a payment has a "Transaction complete" date in its Purchase Details. To check a payment's details, go to the LINE Pay main menu and tap History > the payment.
If you cancel a payment that used Points, the Points will be refunded along with the amount used from Add & Pay.
For credit card purchases at Visa merchants
Refunds will be issued in one of the following ways:
• The refund amount will be subtracted from the billed amount on the payment date, canceling out the payment amount.
• You will be charged on the payment date, then receive a refund on the payment date the following month.

I didn't get Points for using my Visa LINE Pay credit card

Note:

- It can take a few days or up to several months to complete a transaction with some merchants.
- You need to log in to your Vpass account to check your payment history.

To check your Point balance and history, go to the LINE main menu > Wallet > LINE POINT CLUB.
Points will not be issued for any purchases made with your Visa LINE Pay credit card before it has been registered to your LINE Pay account, so make sure to register your card before you start using it.
If you're registering a newly issued Visa LINE Pay credit card to your LINE Pay account, make sure to delete the card that you were using previously first. For the steps to register/delete a credit card, see this Help article.

I didn't receive a LINE notification for using my Visa LINE Pay credit card
You will not receive LINE notifications for the following transactions:
• Payments of JPY 10 or less
• iD payments that are less than a certain amount
• Recurring payments (e.g. utility fees, mobile service bills)
• Some e-money payments (e.g. electronic toll collection systems)
• Some in-flight and on-ship payments
• Returns and cancelations
• Payments at some stores/for some services specified by Sumitomo Mitsui Card
Notifications may also be delayed or not sent in other cases, depending on where the payment was made.

If you are unable to register your Visa LINE Pay credit card to your LINE Pay account, make sure that:
• Your card number and other information was entered correctly.
• The card is not already registered to your account or another account.
• There is no reason why your card cannot be used normally.

- If your card has been reissued, be sure to delete the card currently registered to your LINE Pay account before registering the new one.

Canceling your Visa LINE Pay credit card
You can cancel your Visa LINE Pay credit card via the Vpass online service offered for Sumitomo Mitsui credit card holders (only available in Japanese).
Note:
- You'll need to log in to your Vpass account.
- Canceling your Visa LINE Pay credit card doesn't delete your LINE or LINE Pay account.
Before canceling your credit card, be sure to confirm the information below.
If you have any pre-approved payments for a LINE Pay merchant
Your pre-approved payment contracts will be deleted with the cancelation of your credit card. Check the current status of your payments by going to the LINE Pay main menu and choosing Settings > Pre-approved payment.
Note: To change or cancel a pre-approved payment, contact the merchant that appears.
If your LINE POINT CLUB level is Platinum
Be aware that your level will drop to Gold or lower the month after you cancel your Visa LINE Pay credit card.
Note: You must have a Visa LINE Pay credit card added to your LINE Pay account for your level to be Platinum.
If your LINE Pay payment method is set to Add & Pay
After canceling your Visa LINE Pay credit card, you will no longer be able to use Add & Pay.
When making online, Pay bill, or code payments at LINE Pay merchants, be sure to change the payment method in the LINE Pay main menu to LINE Pay balance.

Applying for a family Visa LINE Pay credit card
With the Visa LINE Pay credit card, you can apply to have a family card issued for one family member for free.
Note: There is a JPY 440 (including tax) service charge for each additional family member.
A family card cannot be issued at the same time as your ordinary Visa LINE Pay credit card. After having an ordinary card issued, check the details on this page (only available in Japanese), log in to your Vpass account, and then apply for a family card.
Points earned for the use of a family card are issued to the LINE Pay account that is linked to the card.

Applying for an ETC Visa LINE Pay credit card
You can apply for an ETC (electronic toll collection) Visa LINE Pay credit card with no annual membership fees for the first year.
Note: There is an annual membership fee of JPY 550 (including tax) after the first year. However, the annual fee will be waived each year if you use the card to make ETC payments.
You can have the ETC card issued when you apply for an ordinary Visa LINE Pay credit card, or at a later date. If you have the ETC card issued later, make sure to check the details on this page (only available in Japanese) and log in to your Vpass account before applying.
Points earned for ETC card use are issued to the same LINE Pay account that is linked to your Visa LINE Pay credit card.

Can I pay Visa LINE Pay credit card bills using my LINE Pay balance or Points?
Point eligibility for Visa LINE Pay credit card payments
Typical transactions that earn Points

(1) Some transactions are not eligible for Points.
(2) Points are issued for up to JPY 50,000 per transaction. If a payment amount exceeds JPY 50,000, Points will not be issued for the excess amount.
(3) National pension plan payments are not eligible for Points.

(4) As a general rule, Points are not issued for payments covered by health insurance. Points may be awarded for some out-of-pocket medical expenses, but we are unable to respond to individual inquires about which medical institutions/payments are eligible.

Additionally, Visa LINE Pay credit card payments for some services and products are not recognized as eligible for Points by Sumitomo Mitsui, Visa, or LINE Pay. In these cases, you will know that your payment was not eligible if you do not receive Points.

I got a Visa LINE Pay credit card notification for an unfamiliar payment
When a temporary charge is made to your Visa LINE Pay credit card, you'll receive a notification from the merchant.
Note: You'll see the details of the temporary charge in the LINE Pay main menu when you tap History > the payment.
Also, with some merchants, certain payments are processed at a later date instead of at the time you use your card. You may be charged later on for:
• Online shopping (e.g. Amazon).
• Recurring payments (e.g. utility payments, monthly fees, subscription fees).
• Temporary charges for small amounts (e.g. JPY 11, JPY 100) to confirm the validity of your card.
• Hotel reservations, item pre-orders, and other similar transactions.
Please confirm whether you remember making the payment based on the merchant that charged you and the total amount.
Note: The name of the shopping center or management company may appear instead of the actual merchant where your card was used.
Payments are not finalized at the time notifications are sent out, so they will not immediately appear in your transaction history on Vpass. Once a payment is finalized on the merchant side, the merchant's name and the final payment amount will appear in your Vpass transaction history.
Note: It can take a few days or up to several months for payments to be finalized.
Please contact Sumitomo Mitsui Card if you don't remember making a payment at the merchant or for the amount that appears in your Vpass transaction history. If you want to temporarily cancel the use of your card, see here. (Only available in Japanese.)

If you registered your Visa LINE Pay credit card as your payment method for online shopping, a small (e.g. JPY 11, JPY 100) temporary charge may be made to test the validity of your card.
If this is the case, the charge won't be finalized and you won't actually be charged for the amount.

I was charged twice for a Visa LINE Pay credit card payment
You'll receive a notification when a merchant makes a temporary charge to your Visa LINE Pay credit card.
Note: You can see the details of the temporary charge from the LINE Pay main menu by tapping History > the payment.
For this reason, you may not actually be charged for the transaction you were notified about.
Once a payment is finalized on the merchant side, the merchant's name and the final payment amount will appear in your Vpass transaction history.
Note: It can take a few days or up to several months for payments to be finalized.
In some cases, duplicate payments that appear in your Vpass transaction history are canceled the following month.
Note: It can take some time for cancelations to be processed.
If a duplicate payment in your Vpass transaction history is not canceled the following month, please contact the merchant directly for details.

I got another notification about a Visa LINE Pay credit card payment I already made
With payments where there is a gap between when you order a product/service and when it is provided (e.g. pre-purchased items, hotel reservations), the validity of your card may be tested again after a certain amount of time has passed since you placed your order.
In these cases, you'll receive a notification but will only be charged after your product arrives or after your stay. Once the amount to be charged is finalized, the final payment amount will appear in your Vpass transaction history.
