Making voice and video calls from LINE for PC

You can make voice and video calls from LINE for PC using any of the methods below.

Making a 1-on-1 voice/video call

Making a voice/video call from your friend list

1. Right-click (Control＋click on Mac) the person you want to call.
2. Click Voice call or Video call.
3. Click Start, or set a background or filter on the preview screen and then click the call icon.

Making a voice/video call from a 1-on-1 chat

1. Click the call icon at the top right of the chat > Voice call or Video call.
2. Click Start, or set a background or filter on the preview screen and then click the call icon.

Making a voice/video call from a group chat

1. Move your cursor over to the icon of the person you want to call.
2. Click the voice call or video call icon.
3. Click Start, or set a background or filter on the preview screen and then click the call icon.

Making a group voice/video call

1. Open a group chat.
2. At the top of the group chat, click Start a call > Voice call or Video call.
3. Click Start, or set a background or filter on the preview screen and then click Join.

Sharing your screen in video calls

To share your screen in a video call:

1. At the bottom of the screen, click Share screen.

2. Click Your screen.

3. Choose the screen you want to share and click Share.

Click the pencil icon in the on-screen menu to write on the screen you're sharing.

When someone doodles on the screen, their profile icon and name will be displayed for 5 seconds. You can also check who made a doodle by placing your mouse cursor over it after clicking the Move icon.

Note:

- To stop sharing your screen, click Stop sharing.

- You cannot use the screen sharing feature if someone else is already sharing their screen or a video.

Setting backgrounds, face effects, and filters in video calls

You can set a background, face effect, or filter in a video call using one of the methods below.

To set a background, face effect, or filter before joining a video call:

1. On the Camera preview screen, click Backgrounds, Face effects, or Filters.

2. Choose the background, face effect, or filter that you want to set.

3. Click Join.

Note: These settings can only be applied in advance for group video calls and LINE meetings.

To set a background, face effect, or filter during a video call:

1. At the bottom left of the screen, click Effects.

2. Click Backgrounds, Face effects, or Filters.

3. Choose the background, face effect, or filter that you want to set.

4. Click "X" at the top of the pop-up window.

For backgrounds, you can set an image saved on your PC by clicking "+".

Displaying more participants on a group video call screen

To display more participants on a group video call screen:

1. At the bottom of the main menu, click "..." > Settings.

2. Click Calls.

3. Check the box next to Display up to 49 participants in grid view.

This feature is available with the following system specifications.

• External graphics cards

- CPU 2 core or higher

- 1.5 GHz or higher

• Intel onboard graphics cards

- CPU 4 core or higher

- 1.5 GHz or higher

I see an error saying my camera can't be turned on and to check its connection

If you see the error message "Unable to turn on camera. Please check if your camera is connected," there may be an issue related to your PC or camera.

Please try:

• Stopping any other apps you're using your camera with (e.g. Zoom) and reconnecting to LINE for PC.

• Downloading or updating your camera's driver (if you're using an external webcam).

• Making sure the use of your camera isn't restricted by security software or your network settings.

Note: If necessary, allow your camera to connect to LINE for PC.

• Updating LINE for PC.

• Uninstalling and then reinstalling LINE for PC.

Note: Chat history that is outside of the storage period may be deleted.

How do I join an existing group call?

Please follow one of the steps below.

- Select Join on the top right in the chat of the group with the existing call.

- Select the call icon on the top right of the message field.

- When you receive the message to start the call from the existing group call, select Join.

- When you receive the invitation message for the existing group call in a 1-on-1 chat, select Join.

Changing the size and position of the incoming call screen

In the latest version of LINE for Mac, incoming calls can be displayed as a small notification at the top right of the screen.

Note: Update LINE for Mac to the latest version here.

To enable/disable this option:

1. At the bottom of the main menu, click "..." > Settings.

2. Click Calls and check/uncheck Show notifications for incoming calls.

Leave Show notifications for incoming calls checked if you prefer incoming calls to be displayed as small notifications at the top right of the screen.

Sharing YouTube videos in group video calls

To share a YouTube video in a group video call, follow the steps below.

Note:

- You cannot use the screen sharing feature if someone else is already sharing their screen or a video.

- Some videos cannot be played.

1. Exit the group video call screen and copy the YouTube video or playlist URL you want to share.

2. Go back to the group video call screen.

3. At the bottom of the screen, click Share screen > YouTube.

4. Click Play.

To stop sharing a YouTube video, click Stop sharing.
