The differences between hiding and deleting a chat are as follows.

When you hide a chat:

Data shared in the chat will remain. If you receive a message from the relevant chat, it will reappear with the data that was previously shared in the chat.

Note: The chat can be hidden again.

When you delete a chat:

Data shared in the chat will be deleted and cannot be restored. If you receive a message from the relevant chat, only the new message will be displayed.

Note: No one will be notified when you delete a chat.

Hiding chats

1. Tap the Chats tab.
2. On Android: Tap the menu icon at the top right > Edit chats.
On iOS: Tap Edit chats (the three lines and a check mark) at the top of the screen.
3. Select the chats you want to hide.
4. Tap Hide > Hide.

To hide chats individually, tap and hold the chat you want to hide on the Chats screen and then tap Hide > Hide.

Unhiding chats

1. Tap the Home tab > the relevant group or friend under Groups or Friends.
2. Tap Chat from the pop-up.

You won't be able to display a chat with someone if they don't appear in your friend list for any of the following reasons:
• You haven't added them as a friend on LINE.
• You deleted them from your friend list.
• They deleted their LINE account.

Deleting chats

1. Tap the Chats tab.
2. On Android: Tap the menu icon at the top right > Edit chats.
On iOS: Tap Edit chats (the three lines and a check mark) at the top of the screen.
3. Select the chats you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete > Delete.

Note: You cannot delete the Keep Memo chat.

The differences between unsending and deleting a message are as follows.

When you unsend a message:

The message will be removed from the chat for both you and the person or group you're messaging. You can unsend messages up to 24 hours after they were sent, regardless of whether they have been read or not.

Note:
- There is no way to unsend anything (e.g. text messages, photos) that has already been deleted from a chat.

- If a message was unsent, everyone will be able to see a notice saying “~ unsent a message” in the chat.

When you delete a message:

It will only be deleted from the chat on your screen and will remain visible to the person or group you're messaging.

Note:

- Deleted information cannot be recovered or unsent.

- No one will be notified when you delete a message.

Unsending messages

Tap and hold the message you want to unsend and then tap Unsend > Unsend.
Note: After you unsend a message, a notice will appear for everyone in the chat showing that you removed it.

You can unsend messages, stickers, photos, videos, voice messages, URLs, contact information, location information, and files.

Deleting messages

1. Tap and hold the message you want to delete.
2. Tap Delete > Delete > Delete.
