You can use this feature with the latest version of LINE except on LINE for Windows and Mac sub
devices. (Update LINE to the latest version.)
With LINE, you'll be notified of messages you receive from users you're not friends with.
You can safely check and manage them. When you receive a message from someone you're not friends with, you'll
receive a request from a non-friend.
You can check the request and decide whether or not to add them as a
friend or accept their group invitation. To check and manage requests you receive from non-friends, refer to the following
information.
Checking requests from non-friends
To check your requests from non-friends, see the following steps.
Users in Japan
In the LINE app on your main device, tap Chats > the Chats tab at the top of the screen > the unread chat requests section in your chats list.
Users outside of Japan
In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Chats tab > the unread chat requests section in your chats list.
In the LINE app on your sub device, tap the Chats tab > the unread chat requests section in your chats list.
Be advised
- The unread chat requests section will only appear if you have one or more requests.
- Once you handle a request, the unread chat requests section won't be shown until you receive a new request.

Marking all requests as read
Marking all requests from multiple users as read
Users in Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap Chats > the Chats tab at the top of the screen.
- Tap and hold or swipe left on the unread chat requests section.
- Tap Read or Mark as read.
Users outside of Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Chats tab.
- Tap and hold or swipe left on the unread chat requests section.
- Tap Read or Mark as read.
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap the Chats tab.
- Tap and hold or swipe left on the unread chat requests section.
- Tap Read or Mark as read.
Be advised
- If you have no unread requests, Read or Mark as read will not appear.

Adding friends/blocking users from your requests

Be advised
- If you add someone in your friend recommendations as a friend or block them, their friend status will also be reflected in the relevant chat inside the Requests from non-friends screen.

- Tap Trust this group or Leave.

- Tap Trust this group or Leave.
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap the Chats tab.
- Tap the unread chat requests section.

- If you leave a group, you will no longer be able to view the group and its chat history.

- If you decline a group invitation, you will no longer be able to see the invitation.
- If you join or decline a group from the Home tab, your group participation status will also be reflected in the relevant chat inside of the Requests from non-friends screen.
Configuring request notifications

- Tap and hold or swipe right on the chat you want to manage.
- Tap Mute chat or Unmute chat.
Users outside of Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Chats tab.

If you don't want to see the unread chat requests section on your chat list, you can temporarily hide it.
Users in Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap Chats > the Chats tab at the top of the screen.
- Tap and hold or swipe left on the unread chat requests section.
- Tap Hide.
Users outside of Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Chats tab.
- Tap and hold or swipe left on the unread chat requests section.
- Tap Hide.

Unhiding the unread chat requests section
If you receive a new request or invitation from a non-friend, the unread chat requests section will reappear in your chat
list.
You can also manually unhide the unread chat requests section on your chat list if you've hidden it.
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Home
tab >
> Privacy. - Under Filter messages, tap Requests from non-friends > Show requests in your chat list.
iPad
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap Settings > Privacy.
