Changing your email address and password

Changing your email address toggle
To change your email address, please see the following:

1. Tap More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email registration > Change your email.
3. Enter an email address and password, then tap OK.
Note:
- If you cannot register your email address, make sure you did not enter any empty spaces.
- If your device is locked with a password or pattern lock, you will be asked to unlock it when you change your email address.

Changing your password toggle
To change your password, please follow the steps below.

Note:
- If you are able to use your account, but have forgotten your password, please see here.
- If you want to transfer your account but have forgotten your password, please see here.

1. Tap More > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email registration.
Note: Depending on your account usage, you may be required to enter your smartphone's password.

We recommend setting a password that is difficult for third parties to guess.

I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle
If you did not receive the password reset email, please check the following:

1. Was your registered email address entered correctly?
2. Did you enter a different email address from the one you registered?
3. Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?
4. Do you have spam filters in place? If so, please try disabling them.
E.g. Block emails that contain URLs; Block emails sent from computers, etc.
5. Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “naver.jp” to your list of accepted domains.
6. Does the email address you are using comply with RFC standards? The following are examples of email addresses that do not comply with RFC standards.
- Addresses with a dot (.) right before the @ symbol
E.g. abcd.@xxx.com
- Addresses with consecutive dots (.)
E.g. ab..cd@xxx.com
- Addresses that begin with a hyphen (-)
E.g. -abcd@xxx.com
7. Are you repeatedly trying to request a password reset email within a short period of time? If you are locked out of your account, please wait 24 hours before attempting once again.

If you forget your password, but are able to access the account, you can apply to cancel your registered email address. 

Please tap the link below from within the LINE app of the relevant account.

Apply to cancel registered email address toggle
This information is for users who have forgotten their password, cannot receive the password reset email and wish to cancel their registered email address. If you know your password, you can cancel or change your registered email address.

See this article if you forgot your password

We can cancel your registered email address and password on your behalf. Only your email address and password will be cancelled. Your friends list, chat history, purchase history etc. will not be deleted.

To register another email address and password, you will need to do this yourself. 


If you cannot use the relevant LINE account, after the email address has been cancelled, you will not be able to register a new email address and password. In this case, you will not be able to carry over your account with an email address and password. Please be careful when changing devices. 

Please note that you can only register an email address and password on the smartphone version of LINE. You cannot register them on other versions such as the PC version of LINE.

To cancel your registered email address, please follow the steps below. Please be sure to follow the steps below on the account you wish to cancel the email address from. If you are not able to use the relevant LINE account, you will not be able to cancel the email address.

1. Start LINE and tap More > Settings > Help.
2. Tap Check/change registered information > Email address & password
3. Under Check your email address and password, tap Registered email address no longer available and forgot password.
4. Tap Apply to cancel registered email address.
5. Answer the questions and tap SEND.

We will require some time to confirm all details to cancel your email address. Once the cancellation has been completed, we will contact you at the email address indicated in the Reply Email field on your contact form.
