Besides text, you can send content in chats and share content you received. You can also copy text that was sent/received in a chat.
Note: We currently do not offer a feature that allows you to schedule messages to be sent at a later time.
Sending content other than text in chats
Aside from text, you can send the following content in chats.

Photos and videos
To send photos/videos that are on your device, see the steps below for your device.
Sending photos/videos that are on your device
- Tap
at the bottom of the chat. - Choose the photos/videos you want to send and tap
.
Tapping the icon at the bottom right of the photo/video
selection screen lets you browse all of your photos/videos.
The number of photos/videos you've selected appears at the bottom of the screen.
Tapping this number lets you confirm and reorder them.
Photos and videos sent in the chat within the last 24 hours will display a
at the top left in the selection screen. The
will disappear once 24 hours have passed
since they were sent.

iPad/Android
- Tap
at the bottom of the
chat. - Choose the photos/videos you want to send and tap
.
Tapping the icon at the bottom right of the

- Open the chat you want to send the photo/video to.
- Open the folder where the photo/video you want to send is saved.
- Click and drag the photo/video to the chat you want to send it.
- Check the Send files preview window and click Send.
Useful info
On the Send files preview window, you can:

Click and hold
to the left of a file, then
drag it to rearrange its order if you're sending multiple files.

Click
to the right of a file to
cancel sending it.
- Add more files by dragging them to the Send files preview window.
You can also send a file by clicking
at the bottom of a chat,
selecting a file, and clicking Open.
If the file type you are sending is not supported, you can send it as a
zip file.
Sending photos/videos saved in Keep Memo
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat > Keep Memo. - Choose the photos/videos you want to send, then tap Share.
iPad/Android
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat
> Keep Memo. - Choose the photos/videos you want to send, then tap Share.
Windows/Mac
- Click
at the bottom of a chat.
- Choose the photos/videos you want to send, then click Share.
Screenshots of chats
You can use this feature on devices aside from LINE for Windows and Mac sub devices.
To take and send screenshots of chats, see the steps below.
- Tap and hold the first chat message you want to include in the screenshot.
- Tap Capture.
- Tap the last message you want to appear in the screenshot.
Note:
- If you want to reselect the range, tap Reselect at the top of the screen.
- If you want to hide the display names and profile photos of your friends in the chat, tap Hide info.
- Tap Capture.
- Tap
or
at the bottom left of the screen, select the
people or groups you want to share with, and then tap Share.
You can tap
at the bottom right to draw on the screenshot image, or
tap
to save it to your device.
Note: If you're using an iPhone or iPad, you can make additional edits to the image (e.g. cropping) after drawing on it.
[Windows/Mac] Screenshots
To send a screenshot, follow the steps below.
Note: You cannot use the screenshot feature if the Capture screen icon is grayed out, such as when interacting with an official account.
- From the main menu, click
. - Select the chat you want to send a screenshot.
- Click the Capture screen icon at the bottom of the text box.
- Drag and select the area you want to take a screenshot of, then click
. - Press Enter or Alt + Enter (Command + Enter on Mac) to send.
Note: You can send up to 20 screenshots at a time.
You can also take screenshots by clicking the
Capture screen icon from the main menu. To send a screenshot to a chat, click
and select who you want to send the screenshot to >
Share, and press Enter or Alt + Enter (Command + Enter on Mac) to send.
Voice messages
You can use this feature on devices aside from LINE for
Windows and Mac sub devices.
The voice message feature lets you send and receive recorded audio messages.
Sending voice messages
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat. - Tap
and record your message. -
Tap
to stop recording.
Note:
- Tap
if you want to listen to your voice
message before sending it. You can also tap
while the message is playing to stop
it.
- If you want to delete the recorded voice message before sending it, tap
.
- Tap
to send.
Note: If you're asked to allow voice recording or microphone access, give access to the relevant permission from the pop-up or turn your microphone on from your device settings.
Checking voice messages
Tap the voice message you received to begin playing it. You can change the playback position by swiping inside of the voice message bubble.
Documents or audio files
To send files saved to your device, follow the steps below for your device.
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat > File. - Tap the file you want to send.
- Tap Send.
iPad/Android
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat
> File. - Tap the file you want to send.
- Tap Send.
Windows/Mac
- Open the chat you want to send the file to.
- Open the folder where the file you want to send is saved.
- Click and drag the file to the chat you want to send it.
- Check the Send files preview window and click Send.

Note: If you don't see the option to share a location on an iOS device, update LINE to the latest version.
- Select a location and tap Share.
If you can't find the location you want to share, you can search for its name or address in the search field on the location selection screen.
Other content
You can use this feature on devices aside from LINE for Windows and Mac sub devices.
- Tap
at the bottom of a chat. - Tap and send the content of your choice.
Sharing messages, photos, and videos in chats with friends
To share messages, photos, and videos in chats with friends, see the following sections based on the device you're using.
- Tap the chat with the message, photo, or video you want to share.

- Select a recipient and tap Share or choose an option at the bottom of the screen.
You can send a message together with the content if you're sharing it with a friend or group. Just enter your message in the text box, then tap Share.

Useful info
- If the storage period for the content you want to share has passed and it no longer remains in your cached data, it can still be shared using your data saved with Premium Backup.

- Data saved with Premium Backup will only be used in some cases.
- Premium Backup is only available in Japan and Thailand.

- Tap the chat with the message, photo, or video you want to share.

- Open a chat.

Click Share under the photo, video, or file

Note: To share messages, right-click the message you want to send, then click Share.
- Select who you want to forward the content to, then click Share.
You can share photos, videos, and files by dragging them to an open chat or a chat in your chat list and clicking Send.
Copying chat messages
You can copy a chat message using one of the methods below.
Copying an entire chat message
Tap and hold the chat message you want to copy, then tap Copy.
iPad/Android
Tap and hold the chat message you want to copy, then tap Copy.
Windows/Mac
- Right-click the message you want to copy.
- Click Copy.
Copying part of a chat message
- Tap and hold the chat message you want to copy, then tap Select and copy.
- Choose the part of the message you want to copy.
- Tap Copy.
iPad/Android
- Tap and hold the chat message you want to copy, then tap Select and copy.
- Choose the part of the message you want to copy.
- Tap Copy.
Windows/Mac
- Highlight the chat message you want to copy, then right-click on the highlighted text.
- Click Copy selected text.
You can paste the chat message you copied by selecting a message text box, note, or other place to enter text > Paste.
Sending messages without notifications
You can use this feature on devices aside from LINE for Windows and Mac sub devices.
You can send messages without notifying the recipient by using the Silent messaging feature from LINE Labs. For more information, see About the Silent messaging feature.
