Abuse in Chats and Groups

Harassment in chats and groups toggle
If you find that you are the victim of harassment or other illegal activities, please discuss the matter first with your family and close friends.

Chats and information used on LINE are considered extremely private information and protected with the highest level of security possible. The right to privacy of communication is also applied by law.

In order to guarantee a way for our customers to freely communicate, we are not able to view the contents or exchanges within chats. That is why we cannot verify the facts ourselves. We appreciate your understanding.

Issues with special characters and symbols toggle
If you are experiencing issues with special Unicode characters and symbols, you can resolve them using the Windows version of LINE.

If you have never used the Windows version of LINE, please see the following article.

Using the Windows Version of LINE

Please try the following in the Windows version of LINE.

Issues in 1-on-1 Chats
- Delete the messages containing the Unicode characters.
1. Right-click the chat on the chats tab.
2. Click Delete.

Issues with Group Invitations
- Decline the invitation.
1. Right-click the group on the Group Invitations list.
2. Click Decline.

Issues in Group Chats
- Leave the group.
1. Right-click the group on the friends tab.
2. Click “Leave this Group.”

Issues on Friends List
- Change your friend’s display name.
1. Right-click the friend on the friends tab.
2. Click “Change Friend’s Name.”
3. Enter a new name for the friend and click the check mark to save.

Issues on Timeline
- Block the friend.
1. Right-click the friend on the friends tab.
2. Click Block.
