Changing your email address/password

Unlocking the screen that appears when trying to change your email address or password toggle
To unlock this screen, use the unlock method you have configured on your device.
Note: This is not the password registered to your LINE account. Your unlock method may require you to enter a PIN code or  passcode, swipe the screen, trace a pattern, or use biometric identification (e.g. fingerprint, face).

I want to transfer my LINE account, but I don’t know my password toggle
Unfortunately, there is no way to check the password you need to transfer your LINE account. If you don't know your password, follow the steps below to reset it:

1.On your new device, open LINE and tap Log in.
2. Enter your phone number and tap the arrow.
3. Enter the six-digit verification code that's sent to you via text message.
4. Tap Yes, that's my account.
Note: If you see Yes, transfer my account, tap it followed by Log in with previous number or Log in with email address, then enter your registered information.
5. Tap Forgot your password?
6. Enter the email address registered to your LINE account.

Note: You will not be able to reset your password if you haven't registered an email address to your LINE account.

I want to transfer my account, but I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle

If you are not receiving the password reset email, please check the following:

 

• Is your registered email address entered correctly?

• Did you enter an email address different from the one you registered?

• Are you trying to send the password reset email repeatedly within a short period of time? Please wait approximately 24 hours between attempts.

• Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?

• Do you have spam filters in place? Please try disabling them.

• Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add “line.me” to your list of accepted domains.

• Does the email address you are using comply to RFC standards? The following are examples of email addresses that do not comply to RFC standards.

- Addresses with a dot (.) right before the @ symbol: abcd.@xxx.com

- Addresses with consecutive dots (.): ab..cd@xxx.com

- Addresses that begin with a hyphen (-): -abcd@xxx.com

 

If your LINE account is linked with Facebook, you will be able to transfer it using your Facebook account.

I'm not receiving the password reset email toggle
If you didn't receive the password reset email, please check the following:

• Have you repeatedly tried requesting a password reset email within a short period of time? If so, please wait 24 hours before trying again.
• Was your registered email address entered correctly?
• Did you enter a different email address than the one you registered?
• Was the email sent to your spam, junk, or other folders?
• Do you have spam filters in place? If so, please try disabling them.
E.g. Block emails that contain URLs; Block emails sent from computers
• Do you have settings in place to only receive emails from certain domains? If so, please add "line.me" to your list of accepted domains.

If you forget your password, but are able to access the account, you can apply to cancel your registered email address. Please tap the link below from within the LINE app of the relevant account.

Changing your email address toggle
To change your email address: 
1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Email address > Change your email.
Note: If you're asked to unlock the screen, use the unlock method you have configured on your device, such as your passcode, PIN code, or biometric identification (e.g. fingerprint, face). Do not use the password registered to your LINE account.
3. Enter a new email address, then tap Next.
4. Enter the verification code or tap the URL in the email that was sent to you.
Note:
- If you can't register your email address, make sure you didn't enter any blank spaces.
- If your device is locked with a passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID, you need to unlock it when you change your email address.

Checking/changing your password toggle
Unfortunately, there is no way to directly check your registered password.

If you forgot your password, follow the steps below to change it.
Note: Be sure to write your new password down so you don’t forget it.

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > Account.
2. Tap Password.
Note: If you're asked to unlock the screen, use the unlock method you have configured on your device, such as your passcode, PIN code, or biometric identification (e.g. fingerprint, face). Do not use the password registered to your LINE account.
3. Enter your new password twice, then tap Change password.
