You can log in with the biometric information (e.g. face, fingerprint) registered to your main device when you use LINE on some sub devices. Since an email address or password doesn't need to be entered, it helps prevent unauthorized logins by third parties.
Setting up biometrics
To log in using biometrics on a sub device, you need to set up biometrics on a main device that meets our system requirements.
Registering your biometrics
Useful info
- Your biometrics aren't saved to the LINE app or LINE servers.
- Register your biometrics to your device.
- Allow logins for LINE with biometrics.

Setting up biometrics in LINE
- Open LINE on the main device your LINE account is registered to.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account. - Tap Face ID or Touch ID > Enable.
- Check that Unlink appears next to Face ID or Touch ID.
- Open LINE on the main device your LINE account is registered to.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account. - Tap Link next to Device unlock method > Enable.
- Check that Unlink appears next to Device unlock method.

You can limit logins from sub devices to
using only biometrics or QR codes by tapping the Home tab >
> Account, and turning off Log in with password.
- Turning off Log in with password will not log you out of any devices you're already logged in to.
Logging in with biometrics
You can use this feature with iPad, Windows, and Mac
sub devices.
Log in on your sub device using the biometrics you registered to your main
device beforehand.
First login
- Start LINE on your sub device.
- Select Log in with my smartphone.
- Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and click Log in with smartphone.
- Click Show verification code.
- Start LINE on your main device.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account > Pair a new device. - Enter the verification code that appears on LINE on your sub device into LINE on your main device.
- Authenticate the login with biometrics on your main device when prompted to do so.
- Start LINE on your sub device.
- Enter your phone number and select Log in with smartphone.
- Select Show verification code.
- Start LINE on your main device.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account > Pair a new device. - Enter the verification code that appears on LINE on your sub device into LINE on your main device.
- Authenticate the login with biometrics on your main device when prompted to do so.
Future logins
- Start LINE on your sub device.
- Select Log in with my smartphone.
- Enter the phone number registered to your LINE account and click Log in with smartphone.
- Start LINE on your main device.
- Authenticate the login with biometrics on your main device when prompted to do so.
- Start LINE on your sub device.
- Enter your phone number and select Log in with smartphone.
- Start LINE on your main device.
- Authenticate the login with biometrics on your main device when prompted to do so.
Useful info
- The LINE official account will also send a login notification message to you on your main device.
- If you are locked out from logging in with biometrics, enter the password or PIN code you set on your device.
Turning off logins with biometrics
- Open LINE on the main device your LINE account is registered to.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account. - Tap Face ID or Touch ID > Disable.
- Open LINE on the main device your LINE account is registered to.
- Tap the Home tab >
> Account. - Tap Unlink next to Device unlock method > Disable.
When you disable biometrics for logging in to LINE on your main device, you will be logged out of LINE on any sub devices you're using. To use your account on a sub device again, log in with your email address and password or with a QR code.
