Sending messages without notifications (Silent messaging)

LINE Labs

LINE Labs lets you try out features that may be released as official services in the future.

To enable features offered in LINE Labs:

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > LINE Labs.

2. Turn the features you want to use ON.

Below are the features offered in LINE Labs.

Features available on both iOS and Android devices:

• Chat folders

• Silent messaging

Features only available on iOS devices:

• Open links in your default browser

• Search for media in chat

Note: You can only use this feature if your device is running iOS 15 or later.

Features only available on Android devices:

• Video highlight wizard

The Chat folders feature lets you group your chats into separate folders so you can find them more easily. Your chats will automatically be put into the Friends, Groups, or Official accounts folder, as well as the All folder.

To use chat folders:

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > LINE Labs.

2. Turn Chat folders ON.

The Video highlight wizard feature analyzes the videos saved on your device and automatically creates highlight reels out of them.

To use the Video highlight wizard feature:

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > LINE Labs.

2. Turn Video highlight wizard ON.

Note: Refer to About LINE Labs for more information.

After you've enabled the feature and video analysis is completed, the Highlight wizard button will appear on the video editing screen.

Note: If you don't need to use the feature, tap Highlight wizard and turn the feature OFF.

By using the Silent messaging feature offered in LINE Labs, you can send messages without recipients receiving pop-ups or push notifications.

To send silent messages, enable the feature in advance by following the steps below.

Useful info

For information about the difference between main and sub devices, see Using the same LINE account on more than one device.

On your main device (typically your smartphone)

1. From the Home tab, tap Settings

> LINE Labs.
2. Turn ON Silent messaging.

On your sub device (typically your tablet)

iPad

1. Tap Settings > LINE Labs.
2. Turn ON Silent messaging.

Android

1. From the Home tab, tap Settings

> LINE Labs.
2. Turn ON Silent messaging.

To send silent messages:

1. Open a chat and enter your message.

2. Tap and hold send icon > Send silently.

Note: If you tap Send normally, the recipient will receive a notification.

When sending silent messages, the recipient can confirm that new messages have arrived by checking the unread message count on the LINE icon and the Chats tab.
