Account transfer basics

See the information below for the necessary preparations on your device before transferring your LINE account.

We recommend regularly checking your registered information to prepare for unforeseen circumstances such as changing your smartphone due to it being lost or broken, or restoring it to its factory settings.

The following information is geared towards users who can use their previous LINE account.

If you can't use your previous LINE account, you won't be able to make preparations to transfer it. In this case, please transfer your account by referring to the LINE safe transfer guide.

1. Set or check the information required to transfer your LINE account:
Make sure that the phone number and email address registered to your LINE account match the ones you're currently using. Also, we recommend changing/resetting your password to securely transfer your LINE account.
Note: Link an Apple ID or Google account if you don't have a phone number registered to your LINE account.

2. Back up your chat history:
To restore your chat history on your new device, you need to back up your chat history in advance. If you can't back up your chat history or if you're transferring your account to a new device with a different OS, you can automatically transfer your chat history from the last 14 days by setting a backup PIN beforehand.

3. Transfer your LINE account using the method that matches your situation:
After completing section 1 and 2 above, refer to the LINE safe transfer guide to transfer your account.
