Albums let you share photos and videos with your friends and groups.
Be advised
- You can create albums in 1-on-1 and group chats.
- If you want to create an album in a multi-person chat, please create a group from the multi-person chat first.
About albums
Content that can be uploaded
The types of content that can be uploaded vary for LYP Premium/LINE Premium members and non-members. However, uploaded content can be viewed by all members.

Note: LYP Premium is offered to users in Japan, while LINE Premium is available to users in Taiwan and Thailand.
Limits on albums and content
- 100 albums per chat
- 1,000 items per album (up to 1,000 photos or a combination of items including up to 100 videos)
E.g. If you upload 950 photos, you can add 50 videos. - 300 items per upload, with up to 300 photos or a combination of items including up to 20 videos
E.g. If you upload 290 photos, you can add 10 videos.
There is a limit to how many photos and videos can be uploaded per month. If met, these limits are reset at the following times.
• For photos, at 12 am (UTC+9) on the first day of the next month
• For videos, at 12 am (UTC+9) on the renewal date of your LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and
Thailand) membership
Basics of using albums
For information about basic album features, see the sections below.
Creating albums
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap
at the top of a chat > Albums. - Tap
at the bottom right of the
screen.
Note: If you're creating the first album in the chat, you can also tap Create album. - Select the items you want to add, then tap Next.
- Enter an album name and tap Create.
To rename a created album, use either of the methods below:
• Tap
at the top of the chat > Albums >
at the bottom right of the album > Rename album.
• Tap the album >
at the top right of the screen > Rename album.
iPad/Android
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap
at the top of a chat >
Albums.
- Tap
at the bottom right of the
screen.
Note: If you're creating the first album in the chat, you can also tap Create album. - Select the items you want to add, then tap Next.
- Enter an album name and tap Create.

Things to be aware of when creating an album
- If you don't enter an album name, the name will be the date the album was created by default.
- You can enter up to 50 characters for an album name.
- The same album name cannot be used more than once in the same chat.
Adding items to albums
Adding items directly to an album
Note: Only LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) members can add videos and original-quality photos.
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap
at the top of a chat > Albums. - Tap
at the bottom right of an album >
Add items, or tap the album you want to add items
to >

- Select the items you want to add, then tap Next
> Add.
Note: To add original-quality photos, tap Original at the bottom left of the photo selection screen.

Adding items sent in a chat to an album
Note:
- You can add up to 20 photos or videos at a time.
- Only LYP
Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) members can add videos.
- On your main device, tap and hold an item, then tap Album.
- Select the items you want to add, then tap Add.
- Select or create an album to save the items in, then tap Add or Create.
iPad/Android
- On your sub device, tap and hold an item, then tap Album.
- Select the items you want to add, then tap Add.
- Select or create an album to save the items in, then tap Add or Create.
Windows/Mac
- Right-click the item in a chat that you want to add to an album.
- Click Add to album.
- Select or create an album to save the item in, then click Add or Create.
Note: You can't save photos in original quality when you select them by right-clicking them. To add original-quality photos to albums, see the Adding items directly to an album section of this Help article.
Useful info
- By joining LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand), you can add videos up to five minutes long and original-quality photos to albums.
- There is a limit to the number of videos and photos that can be uploaded per user.
- You can upload photos up to 20 MB in size and 100 megapixels in resolution.
- While the original resolution is maintained, some photo metadata may be lost.
- Only unedited photos can be uploaded in original quality. Edited photos, videos, and GIFs cannot be uploaded in original quality.

To check the resolution for photos and videos added to an album from your smartphone or tablet,
select the relevant photo or video and tap
> Details.
When you cancel your LYP
Premium (Japan)/ LINE Premium (Taiwan and
Thailand) membership, the content saved in your albums when you were
subscribed will be handled as follows.
Note: The above Help articles are only available in
Japanese, Thai, and Traditional Chinese.
- Videos will be deleted from your albums 30 days after your LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) membership's expiration date.
- Original-quality photos will be converted to standard quality 30 days after the expiration date.
- Standard-quality photos will remain in your albums regardless of your LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) subscription status.
Note: If you re-subscribe within 30 days from the LYP Premium (Japan)/LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) expiration date, the content will remain in your albums.
Saving albums or individual items from albums
Saving all items in an album
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap
at the top of a chat > Albums. - Select the album you want to save, then tap
at the top right of the screen. - Tap Download album.
iPad/Android
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap
at the top of a chat >
Albums.
- Select the album you want to save, then tap
at the top right of the
screen. - Tap Download album.
Windows/Mac
- Click
at the top of the chat >

- Click the album you want to save.
- Click

> Save all. - Select a folder to save the album to, then click Select Folder or Open.
Saving individual items in an album
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap
at the top of a chat > Albums. - Select the album, then tap the item you want to save.
- Tap
at the bottom right of the screen to save
the item.

Note: To select multiple items, select the circle at the top right of each item. - Select a folder to save the items to, then click Save, Select Folder, or Open.
Deleting albums or individual items from albums
Be advised
- Albums or individual items from albums cannot be restored once deleted.
Deleting albums

Deleting items from an album

Be advised
- Albums will be deleted after being stored for a certain period of time in the following cases.
- The friend you're in a 1-on-1 chat with deleted their LINE account.
- Everyone in the group chat left the group or deleted their LINE accounts.
Sharing albums or individual items from albums
Sharing albums
You can share an album again in the chat it was created in.
Sharing album items
You can share items saved in albums with friends or groups.
Useful info
- You can also send a message with the items you selected, if you're sharing with a friend or group. After you've selected the friend/group you want to share with, just enter your message in the text box at the bottom of the screen, then tap Share.
- On your smartphone or tablet, the number next to the profile icons shows the number of members who have added items in the album. Tapping the number lets you view the items added by each member.
- When an album is created or shared again, a message is sent to notify everyone in the relevant chat. If you don't want anyone in the chat to see this message, you can select Unsend within the time limit to remove it, regardless of whether it's been read or not.
- After you unsend a message, a notice will appear for everyone in the chat showing that you removed it.
Clearing the cache for albums
To clear the cache for albums, follow the steps below for your device.
Useful info
- The items in your albums will not be deleted by clearing the cache.
- Any uncompleted uploads to add items or downloads will be canceled.
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Home
tab >
> Albums. - Tap Clear cache for all albums.
- Tap Clear.
iPad
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap Settings > Albums.
- Tap Clear cache for all albums.
- Tap Clear.
Android
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap the Home tab >
> Albums. - Tap Clear cache for all albums.
- Tap Clear.
Windows/Mac
- At the bottom of the main menu, click
> Settings > Data. - Under Albums, click Clear > Delete.
Checking Premium items
This feature is only available to LYP Premium
(Japan) and LINE Premium (Taiwan and Thailand) members.
You can see a list of the items that you uploaded using LYP Premium/LINE Premium
benefits.
Note: If you're an LYP Premium/LINE Premium member but aren't using the relevant
Premium benefits, no items will appear.
Using All albums to view all of your albums at once
The All albums feature lets you check all of your albums from various chats.
Conditions for albums to appear in All albums
Albums that will be displayed in All albums:
- Albums created in 1-on-1 chats with friends
- Albums created in groups that you're a member of
Note: This includes albums from hidden/deleted 1-on-1 and group chats.
Albums created in the following chats will not be displayed in All albums:
- If a friend deletes their LINE account, you'll still be able to see albums in your chat with them, but the albums will not appear in All albums.
- If you're no longer a member of a group (because you left or were removed from it), the albums created in that group will not be displayed in All albums.
The number of albums that will be displayed:
All albums shows up to 1,000 albums from chats where photos were uploaded.
Viewing all of your albums with All albums
Users in Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap the Chats tab > the Friends tab at the top of the screen.
- Tap Your albums under "Your albums with friends" at the bottom of the screen.
Users outside Japan
- In the LINE app on your main device, tap
at the top of a chat >
Albums.
- Tap
at the top right of the
screen.
Regardless of the album, you can view all of your albums' photos by
selecting the Photos tab. Choosing a photo and tapping
See album at the top of the screen will take you to the
album that includes the relevant photo.
Tapping
to the right of the Albums tab lets you reorder albums by Recently uploaded or Recently
created.
Useful info
- On LINE for iOS/iPad, you can change the displayed size of albums or photos by pinching your screen to zoom in and out on the Albums and Photos tabs.
- Adjusting the display size will change the number of rows and columns shown. Any changes you make will be saved.
iPad/Android
- In the LINE app on your sub device, tap
