Sending replies and sharing content in chats with the next-generation Google Assistant

You can use the next-generation Google Assistant to reply to chat messages and share photos, videos, and other content in LINE. For information on how to configure your settings to do so, see this Help article.

Replying to chat messages in LINE

To send a message, start the next-generation Google Assistant while the chat you want to reply to is open in LINE, then say "Reply" and your message.

Note: Your message will be sent when you finish speaking.

You can use the next-generation Google Assistant to send messages in:

• 1-on-1 chats.

• Group chats.

• Chats with official accounts.

• OpenChats.

• Keep Memo chats (to save them in Keep Memo).

The feature can be used on the following devices:

• Pixel 4

• Pixel 4a

Sharing content

To share photos/videos:

1. Start the next-generation Google Assistant with the photo/video you want to send open in your Photos app, then say "Share this with XXXX."

Note: If an app selection screen appears, choose LINE.

2. Confirm the photo/video on the preview screen and tap the Send icon.

To share URLs:

1. Start the next-generation Google Assistant with the page you want to send open in your browser, then say "Share this with XXXX."

Note: If an app selection screen appears, choose LINE.

2. Make sure the URL is in the text box and tap the Send icon.

You can use the next-generation Google Assistant to share content in 1-on-1 chats.

The sharing feature can be used on the following devices:

• Pixel 4, Pixel 4a (for sharing photos/videos)

• Android devices that support Google Assistant (for sharing URLs)

Sending chat messages in LINE with Google Assistant

You can send 1-on-1 chat messages through Google Assistant without starting the LINE app. To do so, you need to allow the setting that adds your LINE friend information (names and profile photos) to your device's contacts.

Note: Turn ON Add LINE friends as contacts by agreeing to the pop-up that appears when you update the app or by following the steps under "Advance preparations" below.

This feature can be used with Android OS version 6.0 or later

Advance preparations
On your Android device:

1. Tap Settings > Accounts > LINE.

2. Tap Sync account and turn ON Sync Contacts.

In the LINE app:

1. Tap the Home tab > Settings > Google Assistant.

2. Turn ON Add LINE friends as contacts.

Note: Users in your device's contacts will not be added as your LINE friends.

To send chat messages in LINE with Google Assistant from your Android device:

1. Start Google Assistant and say "Send LINE".

2. Choose a recipient, enter your message, and then then say or type "Confirm." You can then check your sent message in LINE.

Note:

- English and Japanese are the only languages supported.

- The recipient's name will appear twice on the message pop-up: as it appears in your device's contacts on top, and as it's registered in LINE on the bottom.

To turn this feature off:

1. Start LINE and tap the Home tab > Settings > Google Assistant.

2. Turn OFF Add LINE friends as contacts.

3. Tap Delete.

The LINE friends that were added to your device's contacts will be deleted, and you will no longer be able to send them 1-on-1 chat messages through Google Assistant.
